Bioprocess Engineering and Technology: Fundamentals
This book introduces the reader to basics in both engineering and life sciences required for designing an optimal bioprocess system.

Bioprocess Engineering and Technology: Fundamentals encompasses life science subjects such as cell physiology, microbiology, biochemistry, and molecular biology for the benefit of engineers and contain engineering fundamentals required for life science experts which are restricted to fluid mechanics, reaction engineering, heat and mass transfer, and analytical techniques involved in bioprocess engineering. Fundamental to the successful understanding of the bioprocess is a requirement for life scientists and process engineers to be competent in evaluating biological systems from the viewpoint of a cross-disciplinary approach. Therefore, this book initially describes the topics of microbiology, biochemistry, cellular metabolism and bioenergetics, molecular biology and cellular physiology that underpin biocatalyst potential for product accumulation. Further chapters deal with various engineering principles required for enhancing process performance. Then the authors discuss the significance of various analytical tools used to optimize a bioprocess operation.

The book is intended to provide the fundamentals to senior undergraduate, postgraduate students and researchers working in bioprocess engineering for applications in industrial-scale processes.
