Biotransformations: A Survey of the Biotransformations of Drugs and Chemicals in Animals

Overview

Now in its seventh outstanding volume, Biotransformations has become established as a unique and important source for those involved in the discovery and development of new compounds. It broadly covers the scientific literature for the period 1987 to 1994. The series provides a complete survey of the biotransformations, in vertebrates, of the following: Pharmaceuticals; agrochemicals; food additives; environmental chemicals; industrial chemicals.

Biotransformations provides a ready way of accessing information on the known pathways for the biotransformation of structurally-related compounds. Key functional groups provide an index-related procedure for retrieving information on compounds of interest. A further index allows the retrieval of examples of specific biochemical reactions which may have wider application. Each volume corresponds roughly with the scientific literature published during a calendar year. Each volume contains a review chapter which discusses examples of novel biotransformations, species differences, stereochemical aspects and mechanisms of toxicity associated with specific biotransformations.

Editorial Reviews

Booknews
The fourth volume in an annual series bringing together all current information on biotransformations in vertebrate animals in a readily accessible form, this volume covering calendar year 1990. It provides an up-to-date survey of the literature on the biotransformation of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, food additives, and environmental and industrial chemicals--providing a comprehensive database which allows an increased awareness of patterns of species differences and the influence of chemical structure on biotransformation pathways. Cumulatively indexed by compound, key functional group, and reaction type, covering all entries in volumes 1-4. Acidic paper. Note: the British price is 99.50 pounds sterling. Annotation c. Chemistry and Industryreviewing Volume 3
"...the combination of overview, abstracts and indexes contained in this valuable work provides an up-to-date sourcebook - with outstanding access to the data it contains!"
Trends in Biochemical Sciencesreviewing Volume 1
"This is an excellent piece of work which I'm sure I will continually refer to. It very professionally fills a void in the literature. I would encourage the author to keep the series going"
Xenobiotica
"This succulent smorgasbord of tasty morsels is a joy to read, an excellent reference source, and a popular and much needed series. I sincerely hope that the Editor will continue this series in future years, otherwise this valuable collection of biotransformation data would be somewhat difficult to retrieve from the source literature."
