Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Birdfeeders are fun for anyone to make, especially a child. And if he is rewarded by a rush of colorful birds to his creation, he is even more excited about these winged wonders of the world. Using recycled materials, and a few simple tools, any child can make a beautiful birdhouse for his feathered friends. Many projects will require adult supervision, depending on the child's knowledge of tools. Each project is shown in its completed form, and contains step-by-step instructions for building and painting the project. Each tool and piece of hardware is listed and pictured so there will not be any misunderstanding by the builder. Projects include: Bird dog, made from a log; Feeder Fly, made from a plastic bottle; Three-footed Booby, made with a tomato cage and planter saucers; and Chicken Delight, made with old garden tools and twigs. Different feeders are made for the various foods that will attract a variety of birds. The author has listed some of these foods in the back of the book. This is a great way to build self-esteem in young children and to teach them about nature 2005, Kids Can Press Ltd, Ages 9 to 15.
