Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
One in a series of books about prehistoric life, this volume traces the emergence of birds on earth some 150 million years ago during the age of dinosaurs. Brief discussions of life on earth during the Mesozoic Era as well as the study of bird fossils, bird groups, adaptation to an ever changing world and the extinction of some species are included. Color photos, drawings and maps as well as an appealing layout add to the well-researched text. The inclusion of both era and period as time frames may be confusing for the intended audience, especially since no graphic illustrates their relationship. Included are a quiz, an activity, glossary, index and sources for further study. Part of the "Prehistoric Life" series. 2004, Weigl Publishers, Ages 9 to 12.
