    Informative and helpful

    If you really enjoy bird watching or are new to it, then I would certainly recommend this guide. It has a lot of good information and pictures that really are very helpful.

    Excellent field guide

    Well organized and concise - I bought this as a field guide for my wife who is not from the area. Being a 4th generation native californian and very familiar with the varied ecosystems of the state I was very surprised and pleased at the marvelous photographs and descriptions of the birds, their habitats and habits. Certainly not a scholarly text but extremely easy to use and comprehensive!!

    Best field guide for birds!!

    The pictures are outstanding and the information given about each bird makes it easy to identify the birds visiting your yard. Birds are presented in sections based on predominant color and are listed in as many sections as needed. Pictures are large photographs that are excellent for bird identification. We especially like the Stan's Notes section for each bird that tells which other birds are similar to the one on that page. You can tell which other birds to consider, as well as interesting facts about each bird. We enjoy the book very much. It is so easy to use and has been a great resource for identifying the birds in our new neighborhood. It is the only bird field guide we use!
