Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
That cuddly little pooch is headed off to school in this endearingly oversized lift-the-flap board book. Biscuit is busy meeting the teacher, sniffing out snacks, checking out stories, and looking for a missing ball as students teach him all about the fun they have at school. To make the visit extra exciting for readers, 50 flaps of various sizes reveal school objects, activities, and antics by Biscuit and his friends, and a little mouse that's hidden somewhere in each spread. The board book also provides a bit of educational panache, with a pile of letter-block flaps letting readers practice their alphabet while number flaps reveal shapes underneath. Kids will surely be barking up the right tree with this whimsical charmer on their bookshelves!

A more eager student can be found in the oversize board book Biscuit Loves School Giant Lift-the-Flap by Alyssa Satin Capucilli, illus. by Pat Schories. The lucky pup joins in a fun-filled day of painting, reading, learning and making friends, and young readers have 50 flaps to lift to uncover delicious details (such as what's inside the children's lunch boxes). What an adorable book! In this Giant Lift-the-Flap book, a little girl takes her puppy, Biscuit, to school. Other students have brought their pets as well. The little girl shows her puppy where she keeps her backpack and lunchbox. She shows Biscuit all the fun activities she does at school—painting, playing with blocks, and reading books, and all the things she learns, like the alphabet, numbers and shapes. Biscuit and his owner also learn that school is a great place to make friends. The illustrations are charming, and the lift-the-flaps will provide children with delight as they explore going to school with Biscuit. 2003, HarperCollins,

    Child's favorite book!

My 5 year old loves this book. We as parents love this book because it's the first book he truly wanted to try and read on his own.
