Loveable little Biscuit and his mistress are headed for the beach. She has her hat, sunglasses umbrella, pail and shovel, and beach bag. I am not sure I could carry all of that. Biscuit does not say much except "Woof, Woof" and he appears to be enjoying himself. He shows his mistress just how easy it is to dig in the sand; and then while they are walking close to the water Biscuit spots a starfish. It turns out that they are not the only ones on the beach because friends arrive, including another little dog named Puddles. They head for the ocean and Biscuit knows just how to dry off. It is time for a picnic and the puppies have their doggy bones and water while the girls enjoy sandwiches and fruit. Biscuit comes face to face with a seagull when he rescues the beach ball. After all that exercise the story ends on a quiet note. Also to be noted is that most beaches will not allow dogs so this book might encourage your children to think that they can take their favorite pet to the beach. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
