Politics make strange coffinfellows...

Vampire Seamus Fox is supposed to be the campaign manager for a Vampire Nation presidential candidate. Instead, he finds himself running around Vegas keeping tabs on the candidate's wife and female entourage.

Seamus has had his fill of women: a disastrous and deadly love affair has haunted him for over two centuries. Talk about baggage. But suddenly he finds himself obsessed with a mysterious stripper who dances behind a screen. The sultry yet shy Cara Kim whets his appetite for more, but leave it to Seamus to fall fangs over feet for that rarest of Vegas attractions-a good girl.

After a sudden run-in on the street, though, they may soon have a lot more in common...

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
The sparks fly between Cara Kim, "the oddest attraction in all of Vegas the virgin stripper," and Seamus Fox, a 371-year-old uptight Irish vampire who hasn't had sex in 200 years, in McCarthy's droll follow-up to High Stakes. Seamus, who's the campaign manager for Ethan Carrick, the president of Vampire Nation, must turn Cara into a vampire in order to save her life after she becomes collateral damage in a nasty pre-election skirmish connected to Roberto Donatelli, who's running against Carrick. Donatelli is so eager to unseat conservative Carrick, he'll stop at nothing, even if it means driving a stake into someone or drugging an associate. Though Cara initially finds Seamus controlling and his blood too arousing, she soon finds herself and her five pets, including a devilish Chihuahua, doing more than just a shadow dance in this cute paranormal treat. Laugh out loud!

I'm always looking for a new "funny paranormal" series. This was a great place to look. Erin McCarthy wrote a funny, sexy, and very entertaining series. This is a very easy read. Once I started I couldn't put it down. Half way through I went ahead and ordered the whole series. I highly recommend these books.

    I Also Recommend:

    Cute

I thought this story was really cute and funny. I laughed out loud several times throughout this story. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I thought it was missing that zing that made it a great story. Other than this, it's a great read for a lazy afternoon.

If you like Vampire Series, this one is fun

The Vegas Vampire series reminds me of several other vampire series, but in this series, the vampires are usually the good guys. It's a quick read, has interesting characters and a touch of humor.

    Better than Twilight

Yes, I read the first book of that series to see what all the buzz was about. It is a teen series, and I could not even finish the second book. They have a huge fan base, but I just don't like the way the author writes. No offense. I love Erin's books. They are short, sweet and a great Summer read. For adults... not for teens. The love scenes are sexy and erotic, but not over the top. She has a way to pull you in and like the characters. I have checked out every book in this series. She gives them real situations and not so much drama or angst. ;)

    I Also Recommend:

    Good, but no Twilight

After reading the Twilight saga books, I wanted more. So I tried this book, and although it doesn't compare to the Twilight series, it doesn't disappoint. The book is cleverly written, and keeps you entertained. Very easy & enjoyable read.

    Entertaining and steamy

This was an original twist on the standard romance story - the hero is a 400-year old vampire, and the heroine is an exotic dancer in Las Vegas. Characters were memorable, scenes were steamy, and this was an entertaining read overall. I would recommend it.

Almost as fun as being in Vegas

For a quick read this book packs in a lot of fun. This story had sassy female characters, an interesting storyline, vampires, and some sexy scenes. I will be reading the rest of McCarthy's Vegas Vampire Tales.

    Another sexy vampire tale

Bit The Jackpot by Erin McCarthy continues the funny and sensuous tale of vampires. ------------ Seamus Fox is a no nonsense, play by the book campaign manager for his friend Ethan Carrick. He meets a woman while searching out the aunt of his boss. This woman Cara Kim is the most sensual mortal he has ever met. When Cara is fatally injured Seamus turns her in order to save her. This doesn¿t go over very well with Cara. ----------- Cara is working as a stripper behind a screen in order to get money for vet school. She brushes Seamus off but then wakes up after being hit by a car to be one of the undead. Cara does not like this change in her living status one little bit. Even though she is attracted to Seamus she fights it with everything in her. But there is something about this vampire that sets her soul on fire. -------- As Seamus teaches Cara her new lifestyle, danger is lurking at every turn. This danger makes them realize their love is a love for all eternity. ================ Bit The Jackpot is a gem. I laughed and sighed all through it. It was a treat to revisit character from High Stakes. This story will delight any romance reader with its funny characters and sexy ways. I am looking forward to the next story¿ Bled Dry.

Vampire romance readers will feel they BIT THE JACKPOT with this fun contemporary tale

In Las Vegas where vampires and other paranormal species reside, the rarest species is Cara Kim, a virgin stripper. Over three centuries old Seamus Fox is the campaign manager for the reelection of Ethan Carrick as president of the Vampire Nation, but an ugly incident has brought Cara to his attention. Ethan¿s opponent Roberto Donatelli caused a fracas that left Cara¿s life in danger as he does not care what happens to the inferior mortals and she is collateral damage.------------- Seamus converts Cara to save her life. However, he is shocked how attractive he is to her, but assumes she heats his blood because he has abstained from sex for two hundred years. On the other hand, Cara struggles with this alpha hunk ordering her and her five pets around though she would not mind taking a bite or two from him. As they fall in love, Roberto raises the stakes planning to use the new born conversion as a pawn to eliminate Seamus.----------------- Vampire romance readers will feel they BIT THE JACKPOT with this fun contemporary tale. The background contains a biting ¿political¿ campaign in which one side uses bloody tricks that would have sent Lee Atwater roving for a different job. Throw in Vegas and a likable pairing of an abstemious vampire and a newbie and that leads to a delightful read.-------------- Harriet Klausner
