    Good prequel

Excellent back story covering Augustus Garret during his first command. Space combat and the realism involved with it is what makes this series so interesting for me. Also had classifications of the major ship involved, as a current sailor more of this in the regular series would interest me.

    Very entertaing

I'm really liking this series and am looking forward to the next installments. Jay Allen is a solid writer. My only complaint is that the proofreading is not very good.

    Fun read!

When Augustus Garret is introduced in the Crimson World series I kept thinking what a great background story this character has. This novella did a great job telling the early days of Garret and Compton. I did enjoy the cameo appearance of Gavin Stark too. If you like the Crimson series the this is a fun read. Maybe we will see more adventures of Garrett and Compton.
