This novel is about the conditions of blacks and Arabs in Paris. The blacks here are those who came from black Africa, which is this black bazaar. He was born in Pointe Noire, Republic of the Congo, Africa, on the twenty-fourth of February in the year one thousand nine hundred and sixty-six, and spent his childhood there. He traveled to France at the age of twenty-two on a postgraduate scholarship. He has lived in Santa Monica, California, America since 2005, where he teaches French literature at the University of California, Los Angeles. Alain Mabanckou has won more than ten major international literary awards, including the prestigious Renaudeau Literary Prize in 2006, which is a prestigious French literary award awarded to novels written in the French language. It was established in 1926 by a group of major French critics and journalists.
