Master the Intriguing Kakuro Puzzles…One Level at a Time

Kakuro mania is taking over the world! Puzzle fanatics and beginners are discovering just how addictive these brain benders are.

  • Your challenge: to use a combination of logic and basic math. Can you fill in the empty squares using the numbers 1 to 9? Keep in mind that the sum of each horizontal set of digits equals the number in the black triangle to its left, and the sum of each vertical set of digits equals the number in the black triangle above it. And there’s one more obstacle: NO REPEATS!
  • Here we’ve indicated the skill level necessary to complete each book in this series in the same way Japanese karate levels are ranked: by different colored belts. To complete the Black Belt volume, you better be a champ because you’ll need all the brain power you have to solve these cranium crushers.
Sudoku is fun…kakuro is even better!

Good only if you're a real 'black belt' expert

I thought I was good at these puzzles, but they really mean it when they say "black belt". I have only finished one or two without needing to "cheat" a bit. Unless you are REALLY REALLY good, I would recommend starting at one of the easier color belts (they have quite a few different ones).

Finally, a Kakuro book that is really challenging! None of the others I'd found were difficult enough, no matter how tough they claimed to be. I've ordered this one again and again, and then was thrilled in spring 2012 when the publisher released Second Degree Black Belt Kakuro . It's even harder! Awesome series.

    Wonderful!

I have bought this book a few times because I love Kakuro and it is hard to find a Kakuro book that is challenging enough. After I finish the book, I buy it again. Each time I complete more puzzles successfully.

This is a great puzzle book...great exercise for the brain!

Once you learn the basic rules of Kakuro (1 pg.), you will find this to be an addictive puzzle book!

    Fun but could be tougher

I enjoy this sudoku-like format. My only comment is that I wish the puzzles got harder as the book progressed. I would rate this closer to a 'brown belt'.
