Do not buy for Nook Devices

I bought this for the Nook Tablet and all that showed up was a blank, black screen. I tried to tell B & N about the problem and I probably had one of the worst customer service experiences in my life. They kept having me deregister my nook tablet to try and fix the problem (which takes forever and erases all of my stuff). Then they found out that the book didn't work on their devices either (thanks for wasting my time). Then they wouldn't give me a refund at first - ARE YOU KIDDING!! I raised H*** and ended up getting my money back. It seems like they never did anything to fix the book because a review on Feb 8, 2012 states that the user got a blank, black screen just like I did a month or 2 before.

Its only a matter of time before I go for the Kindle Fire. I've stopped buying books and am just going to finish reading the ones I have left. Totally stinks that I've already invested about $500 dollars in this company. I can get some of that back when I sell my nook tablet, but I'll never get the money for the books back.

    Page turner

I never would've thought I'd read this genre but I was drawn to the cover so I decided to purchase volumes 1-7 and I did not regret it. If you're a fan of paranormal romance (Twilight, etc) then this book is for you. Some say it includes characters from Japanese folklore but I am not sure. I am not sure if the plot is from Japanese folklore too: a female human born with the power to strengthen demons by her flesh and blood (called as a senka maiden in the manga, oh, she has to be a virgin too, I think???). The way the author describes it: If a demon drinks your blood he is granted a longer life, if a demon eats you he is given eternal youth, if a demon takes you for his wife his clan will prosper. Oh, the senka maiden must turn 16 years of age before her powers take full effect. The author described it as "open season" for demons once the senka maiden turns this age.
This plot is what the author draws upon and included the romance factor of course ;) with all the angst of teenage romance. Fair warning though: This manga series is not for those under 18years of age and I am serious. There are adult themes throughout the manga as well as a disturbing twist: the heroine is a 16 year old high school student and the hero is her homeroom teacher! It doesn't help that the hero cannot hide his growing desire for the heroine.

    Unexpected

Well, this all started when I picked up High School Debut at the local Barnes & Noble and noticed Black Bird which has had my attention for a while. Anyway, after I bought 3 of them I had some cash left over so I picked up Black Bird 1 & 2 while I was there. I didn't really expect much from it but I went ahead and gave it a try. Now onto the manga.

I have to say that Black Bird kind of started off a little slow, or so I thought. However, by the end of the first chapter it started reeling me in since everything kind of just...happened. What I mean is, the main guy, Kyo, pretty much suddenly appeared, saved the main girl Misao, and managed to beat up a few baddies. One thing I found surprising was the ammount of blood. Misao keeps getting into these situations and finds herself injured. Anyway, Kyo seems to add an erotic feel to Black Bird since he constantly refers to Misao's breasts and cant seem to keep his hands to himself. The art at first I wasn't sure I liked but it kind of rubbed off pretty soon. There's a lot of tension between the two, some sexual, but overall a good read. I don't recommend the manga for young readers. Overall, Black Bird surprised me and kept me wanting more by the end of the volume.

I have enjoyed reading this one alot

I was not sure at first about this manga. but having read all three volumes I have to say that it is really a great read.
I like the way that the characters relate to each other. and how the two main characters fall in love was really great. If you are looking for something that is a little different/ then you should read this book.

All she wanted was a normal life, but fate had other plans.
I love this series. The setting is beautiful and all of the characters so unique. None of them are perfect, but they do the best they can with what they’ve got. This story is just plain fun and addicting. The lead character isn’t overly cheerful and in fact is pretty average if it wasn’t for her unusual ability to see spirits. Misao is a girl who has always longed for a normal life with her loved ones, but she doesn’t get depressed and weepy. Instead she does her best to bear it and tries to rely on her own ability to gain happiness. She does falter at times, but I love that she isn’t perfect and can have a bit of a selfish side to her. It shows that she is human. I love the dynamic between her and Kyo they are so great together. Even though Misao can be a bit naïve when it comes to Kyo she doesn’t let him push her around.
Kyo is a sweet guy, but he does have a tendency to love to tease Misao. I find it nice that although he wants to protect her he doesn’t treat her like she is a china doll that could easily break. He tells her straight out what’s going on and allows her to make her own decisions.
Aside from all the seriousness the story is full of hilarious antics that the characters get into and had me cracking up a lot. It gave us a nice relief so it wasn’t overly serious. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for Misao and Kyo.

I had the same black screen issue on my nook tablet. However, last week I went in to barnes and noble and used their wifi to archive and unarchive blackbird volume 1. It then showed up just fine, so i guess they finally fixed it!

    Cute

It's really cute and sad that she remembers her childhood friend and has been aching for him for years. Kind of reminds me of Bleach, except the boy has supernatural powers and the girl has a special gift that draws others towards her. It's romantic and touching and has a small amount of danger.

Black Bird is an amazing manga!

This was just amazing! I love Kyo and Taro very much. The story was very good and well written, or rather, drawn. We first meet Misao and find out that she is in love with a childhood friend, Kyo. Kyo promised her that he would come back for her when he moved out some years ago. Then we find out that Misao sees demons. Kyo comes along and... I guess I would say, saves her, in a way. And of course, Kyo is a demon. He is back to make Misao his wife. Misao doesnt know if Kyo loves her or is just playing her. It is a great book and you will not put it down til the end, so if you can, go ahead and buy the next one.

    My favorite manga

I was hooked on this book from the very begining. I love how the characters start out and are introduced and once I read this I literally started reading it again. It is an awesome series, one I would recommend others to follow. I also love that the books are being published quickly. I get so wrapped up in the story I can't put it down and then when I do I pick it back up and read it again! It is the absolute best. Yes I am borderline obsessed with it but if you enjoy manga you will enjoy this series.

    Must Read !

Black Bird is an absolutely amazing manga. It has beautiful artwork, unique storyline (not many people have thought of this one yet), great humor, and not anything that can put you to sleep. It is more intended for less juvenile audiences, but I think that's partially what makes it so amazing.

So much angst makes this AMAZING!!!

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about this series at first. Sometimes, I wonder if the supernatural element of love stories is a little trite already. But this series is amazing. It's not really original, but it reminds me of so much of my favorite manga with its stereotypical characterizations. There's the perverted teacher and the indecisive and clumsy heroine. Somehow they make the cutest couple.
This is definitely for a mature audience, but I could not put this down when I picked it up. I'm so glad Viz Media is publishing the volumes really fast!!
