Meet the Author

GREG PAPE’s books include Border Crossings, Storm Pattern, and Sunflower Facing the Sun, for which he received the Edwin Ford Piper Poetry Award (now called the Iowa Prize), The Morning Horse, Small Pleasures, and Little America. He has received a Discovery/The Nation Award, a Pushcart Prize, and two National Endowment for the Arts fellowships. His poems have appeared widely in magazines, including The Atlantic Monthly, Bloomsbury Review, Doubletake, Iowa Review, Mid-American Review, The New Yorker, Ploughshares, Poetry, and many others, as well as such anthologies as Wildsong: Poems of the Natural World, The Viking Portable Western Reader, Poems of the American West, Stand Up Poetry, Pittsburgh Book of Contemporary American Poetry, Geography of Poets, and others. He is a former Coal Royalty Chairholder in Poetry at the University of Alabama, Bingham Poet-in-Residence at the University of Louisville, and has taught in the writing program at the University of Montana since 1987. He also teaches in the brief residency M.F.A. program at Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. He lives with his family in Montana’s Bitterroot Valley.
