Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Danielle Williams
Hip-Hop artists are as flamboyant as the music they create and both are appealing to young people. The Black Eyed Peas struggled to become famous, but once they achieved star status their unique dynamics and upbeat music has made them popular around the world. It took several years for the group to form to its current ensemble and stardom took just as long to reach. Despite a few personal bumps along the way, the group maintained their easy going and affirmative message. Filled with photos of the group through the many changes over the years, Earl presents a basic introduction to the Black Eyed Peas as a group. Very brief biographies of each member of the group provide a basic introduction to the individuals, but the focus of the text is on the group and its success as hip-hop stars. A discography, a timeline, and additional sources to consult are included at the end of the text, which is part of the "Superstars of Hip-Hop" series. Reviewer: Danielle Williams
