    WOW!

Before it was a popular movie; Black Hawk down was a book by Mark Bowden who chronicles a little known incident. One of our birds, a black hawk, was shot down and then over run by rebels.
This book takes you deep into the danger zones of Mogadishu, Somalia. This intense combat mirrors the jungle wars of yesteryear but it happen in clear view in a hostile city. The soldiers were not there for war, but to help out.
The account is riveting and Black Hawk Down: a Story of Modern War by Mark Bowden captures the chaos of the fog of war. The interesting aspect of this incident that happen less than 20 years ago, is that it seems simplistic in the context of our current war on terror.

    good

the movie was good.....the book was better. the only disagreement i have is that the movie portrayed the rangers as 'green' or 'inexperienced' which they certainly are not.
