Best Book in the Series!
I strongly recommend you read this series in order (Black Wings and Black Night) prior to reading this installment.
What a spectacular read! The intensity of the storyline was so fierce, it kept me glued to every page. This fast paced story moved quickly from one tragedy to the next. Contrary to the tragedy, the story also had lots of humor and fun.
Lucifer is definitely my favorite character. His twisted grandfatherly interaction with Maddy was a welcomed treat. The more Lucifer ushers Maddy into his inner circle and the more knowledge Maddy gains in Lucifer’s world, the more pain is bestowed on her.
Maddy’s life has always been in a state of flux and this installment completely shatters her whole world. The author handled Maddy’s misery elegantly and respectfully. Just when you think you’ve figured everything out, the author goes and throws the biggest curveball! The huge cliffhanger had me on the edge of my seat and left me salivating for more!
Fans of the series, this installment is a must read! This particular book, IMO, is the catalyst that will fuel all future books. With the ending done as it was, this altered path, plunges Maddy’s life past her precipice and into a new phase of untethered wrath.
I strongly recommend this book to fellow dark urban fantasy readers and I can’t wait for next book Black Lament due out 10/30/2012. I also recommend: Shéa MacLeod Kissed by Darkness from the Sunwalker Saga (B&N do not carry this title).

Black Howl, Book #3 of the BLACK WINGS series
Author = Christina Henry
OUR REVIEW by LITERAL ADDICTION's Guest Reviewer - Shawnie
POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!!!!!
I have been following Christina Henry's Black Wings Series since I stumbled across her name I read the first chapter and new I was going to be one of the fanatics and obsess about when new books would be coming out. There is so much you can grab on to with these books, it is hard not to love. Not only did she successfully introduce us to her Agents of Death, she also gave us a dysfunctional family to some what relate to and a love story that would break any sane women's heart. Now any other person would probably underline the love story but not I. I got caught and pulled in by Lucifer himself *grins* yes he makes horrible babies, but I do not care. The small and fleeting parts that we get to view him, grip you and leave you begging for more. The ultimate bad boy, who could resist that temptation? I can't and I don't even want to. The fact that Madeline Black is his Granddaughter just makes it all so much better and the cast in these books are laugh out loud funny.
But I have to say Night Howl was not what I expected it to be, it was beyond awesome. Madeline is as always her reckless self, and can't stop herself from jumping head first into some crap with complete disregard for her life. Her motives are pure, she would do anything for her friends but she seems to lack self preservation on a number of fronts. Her emotions rule her, and that is what gets her in trouble most times but also her loyalty to her family. I commend her for that sense of loyalty, but disagree with the decisions she makes in regards to that loyalty.
There was a lot of emotions with with book some laugh so hard you pee yourself, some oh my god why is that happening and a lot of giant tears that come down on their own. Beezle, makes you want to fling him somewhere and then go get him just so you can hug and love him. Gabriel, makes you want to smack him in the back of his head in the beginning and then you want to jump up and down shouting YES! Samiel, is just one of those characters you love, because you can't feel anything else for him. Lucifer is well Lucifer, he is still his complex, semi emotional self who does things that completely benefit him in the long run. AND I LOVE IT! You get all the family with this book, but if I give you everyone else I would have to give you spoilers, and I won't do that.
I will tell you all this, you will be upset towards the end, but very happy by the end of the book. Christina Henry, knew what she was doing when she wrote Black Howl, I give her a standing ovation. If I had a rating system I'd give her FIVE BLACK ROSES [as it stands, she's reviewing for LITERAL ADDICTION, therefore she gives it 5 SKULLS in our case. :)].

This third installment does not disappoint! Maddy is an awesome heroine! Christina Henry has hit the mark with her wonderfully endearing characters and plenty if wit and sarcasm. One of the best series of books in the urban fantacy genre! Highly recommend!!!

I loved this series, but I couldn't stop crying! Quick question, will there be a 4th book? Or at least another book written by Christina Henry? I can't tell if I dislike or like the ending
TT~TT (crys again)

I was really disapointed in this book. It was one battle after another, some of which I completely skipped. No character development. Will not read another. Unless it's free.

Love the 3rd installment of Maddie and her crew. Maddie just cannot seem to keep from finding herself in the thick of it. Ghosts that are wondering around without her bosses of death being notified, warewolves missing, and a vengence seeking fairy stirring the pot. As she struggles to put all the pieces together she discovers new things about herself and who she can and cannot trust. I cannot wait for the next book to come out and hope there will be many more.
