Overview

Lock n' load with the baddest group of mercenaries ever to hit the high seas of Southeast Asia! Aboard their World War II torpedo boat, the Black Lagoon, Dutch the Boss, Benny the Mechanic, Revy Two Hand, and Rock, the salaryman from Japan, deliver anything, anywhere. In the dangerous underworld of the Russian Mafia, Chinese triads, Colombian drug cartels, crazed assassins, and ruthless mercenaries, it's hard to know who to trust. But if you've got a delivery to make, and you don't mind a little property damage along the way, you can count on the crew of the Black Lagoon!

Rokurō Okajima is just an average Japanese salaryman, living an average life. But when he's taken hostage by the crew of the Black Lagoon, Rokurō finds himself thrown headfirst into a deadly world of outlawed heroes, brutal villains, and blazing gunfights. Where he ends up is anyone's guess, but one thing is for certain--he's in for a wild ride!

"A+" That is the only way to describe the manga of Black Lagoon. While the anime is one of the best of all time, the manga, without the restraints of being teen friendly, is steamy, filthy and the best manga I have read since Hellsing. While every character takes a back seat to Revy, they are not one dimensional and are all quality foils for Revy and her "Take No Prisoners" attitude. Both issues are impossible to put down and are so good reading them over and over is well worth it. I have already loaded up on the rest of the series I can put my hands on and can't wait to get to reading them. Mind you, if you are shocked by profanity, nudity or blood and gore, this is not the manga for you, but if you like your manga's to be raw, fast-moving and full of action, I recommend finding any and all issues of this manga. After reading what I have read it is no mystery why the anime is so highly rated by the experts.

This graphic novel is great for the mature audiences. The reader will be able to travel alongside a once mediocre Japanese businessman as he gets thrust into the criminal underground. With interesting characters having mysterious backgrounds, the reader will be in suspense as to what happens next, how will their problems be resolved and just who are all these mysterious people. A great read and there is also an anime show out there. After reading this, it became my favorite anime/manga. I would rate it 10 stars out of 10 'worthy of more than a 5 star scale' Hope you enjoy it as well!

So i watched the anime and couldn't believe how awesome it was! So after i finished i found out that recently the manga came back from hiatus and decided i'd help support it by purchasing the series. If you've seen the show then know that the manga made the anime basically word for word, personally i think the anime depicts the epic fight scenes and quick paced movements of the scenes better but the manga is still very good. If you haven't seen the anime nor read up on this yet its all about action, guns, immorality, blood, every thing you could ask for. This is one of my favorite shows of all time though so i may be a bit biased as i specifically like these genres over others. You wont regret giving this book a try!
