The Black Mountain (Nero Wolfe Series)

( 22 )

Overview

When evil strikes a loved one, it can make us crazy. We can't think rationally enough to get revenge ourselves, so we shouldn't. But Nero Wolfe ignores reason when someone guns down a close friend in cold blood. He vows to collar the killer personally, and it thrusts him into the gravest danger of his career.

The case takes him 4,000 miles across the ocean to the hazardous mountains of Montenegro, where Communist cutthroats have also disposed of Wolfe's adopted daughter. Now ...

    Not so much mystery as....

an adventure into Wolfe's past. To track down the killer of his boyhood friend, Wolfe, with Archie at his side, returns to Montenegro and Yugoslavia. This book, especially, raised my interest in the Balkan region. Not so much a whodunnit, but how-are-we-going-to bring- him-to justice story. A must for Wolfe fans.

Nero out of his comfort zone is very entertaining. A great addition to his followers!

Archie and his boss travel to Nero's homeland to fulfill a duty Nero feels for his friend Marko. The depth of responsibility demonstrated in this book unheard of in today's society. Archie has to adjust to several language barriers and you can sense his funny frustration throughout the book.

Sarah, to put it simply, l am the first daughter of Faolan and Edme. Many years old. I wanted to let you know since l am locked out of all results and wont be able to talk to you anymore. My mate, the father of Lutta, was Myrrglosch. I was the second skreeleen in the Distant Blue under Dearlea. Im sorry about the many deceptive family stories, but this is the true one. Oh, and Ekire? Heep had another daughter. He was killed by Old Tooth after she was born. All the outclanners were killed, but Eelon and Zanouche let her pass. What could a harmless pup do? Mhairie and Rags took her in. She went bad and ran away. Meanwhile, Edme found a curious glowing moonstone in her and Faolans den. She kept it safe but Ekire stole it. She got powerful but you killed her. And l took her other life. The moonstone gave her that other life. I destroyed the moonstone. Twilight and Deron...Twilight was actually Rags and Mhairies daughter. Deron was Lutta and Bevons son. Grivmore was a Boreal Owl that we found as an injured owlet. Lucas and Henryk were black foxes who helped us. And Alastrine an Aislinn were my sisters. May the great Star Wolf and Skaarsgard watch over you and your family. Give Bevon my thanks. -Starflower
