More About This Book

Overview

While flying to a race, Alec Ramsay and the Black’s plane crash-lands in the stormy Caribbean. Chance brings the Black to the hidden island home of the giant red stallion, Flame. Such a small island can only support one alpha male. But before the two can fight–a fight that can only result in the death of one–a new danger appears. Together, can the stallions defeat the deadly foe which threatens the lives of the entire herd of wild horses?

A plane wreck at sea separates Alec and the Black until the search for a rabid vampire bat leads the boy to Flame's island sanctuary.

    Rockpaw(continued)

"Why did Dark Shadow bite thoose wolves and turn them black? How?" Asked Rockpaw. "Hang on. Before I answer you, whats your name?" Asked Gemstone. "Rockpaw," answered the apprentice. "Ok, well, now that I know your name, I'll answer your question. Dark Shadow bit them because he wanted us to lose our power. That way, Wind can't freeze him or something and Silvermoon can't shapeshift. That made him have a huge advatige. He still has his power. He never lost it. Oh, did I ever mention that Dark Shadow is trying to kill Wind? Well anyway, he sort of poisoned them, but it only lasts 48 hours. Which is two days, if you didn't know that. After that, their normal color is restored and they get their power back. Silvermoon will get her glowing eyes, her wings, and power back. And her fur will turn back to silver and Wind's will turn white again. Get it?" She told Rockpaw. "Yeah, I get it," said Rockpaw. He still didn't feel completly comfortable talking to a wolf. "Well, I need to go, Rockpaw. Maybie we will meet again sometime," she said. "Yeah," he said. She began to leave, followed by Wind, Silvermoon, and Moonglow Shadow. She paused and turned toward Rockpaw. "I think Dark Shadow will be coming back and attacking you. Be prepared," she told him siriously. With that, she continued walking away and turned back into a wolf. Even after they were long gone, Rockpaw still stood there, prosessing all he had learned. It wasnt until late that he relized how hungry he was. He looked at his legs. Bleeding. He felt the sting of the scratches on his cheek. They were bleeding slightly. He felt weak. Im losing blood, he thought, I better get back to camp. He weakly limped back to camp.

    Falconclaw

Falconclaw stalked the wren. He was about to jump when he brushed a bit of heather. But since the bird was forgetting to be careful it just looked around and resumed cleaning itself. He bunched his muscles and jumped. The bird tried to fly away but he bit its neck and it went limp. He covered it with earth and went to hunt some more.~Falconclaw

    A bird in a tree

A wren fluttered down from his perch on a tree. It was one of the only trees on the prarie. He searched through the grass checking for bugs. He found a beetle, gulping it down. The wren moved his beak through the field grass, hoping from place to place. He ate another bug, blinking dark eyes. The bird moved his beak through his feathers, preening himself. The busy bird was forgetting to be watchful on this nice summer day...

    A reviewer

The book I read was about a young boy named Alec who owns a horse named The Black. A few other kids and him. That own hoses are on the plane with him. They are crossing the Atlantic ocean. There is a very big storm and they miss the spot they were supposed to land. By the time the storm started to clear, the plane is running out of gas, and was starting to sputter. They all put life vests on in case they needed to ditch the plane. They ended up having to ditch and were stuck in the Atlantic ocean. Some parts of the book were better than others like when the plane started to fall. It was very dramatic. Some parts like when they were on the raft were very boring, and just made me want to skip that part. This book is not a part of any series. This book reminds me of Spirit because The Black looses Alec and Spirit is taken away from his heard. I think anyone that likes horses would like this book. If you don¿t like horses, you still might like the book if you like intense parts .I thought the book was okay, but I suggest any horse lovers to read this book.
