Nancy Morejón is one of Cuba's outstanding contemporary poets. An award-winning poet whose work is widely anthologised, Afro-Cuban Morejón is also a critic, essayist, literary researcher and Director of the Centre for Caribbean Studies at Casa de Las Americas in La Habana. Morejón won in 2002, Cuba's prestigious National Literature Prize. Her books in English include WITH EYES AND SOUL: IMAGES OF CUBA (White Pine Press, 2004) and BLACK WOMAN AND OTHER POEMS (Mango Publishing, 2004).
