    A must read Western!

    The Blackfoot Trail

    The Blackfoot Trail is another great western by Charles G West. The detail and descriptions bring to life the characters and the area around them. Once you pick the book up, you won't want to put it back down until Joe Fox's and Callie Simmons' stories are told. Will they overcome their obstacles and realize they belong together?

    Callie Simmons is on a mule train with her parents and others heading to Oregon. They have hired a man named Skinner to lead them. Turns out, he doesn't know where he is going. Malcolm Lindstrom and Pete Watson hire Joe Fox to help them find Malcolm's brother and the mule train. They haven't telegraphed to say they made it through, and if they don't get out soon, they will be snowed in. Fox agrees to help them find the mule train. When he does, they ask him to lead them to Oregon. Skinner was fired and no one else knows how to get to Oregon. He says it is too late and they need to prepare for winter by building shelters and bringing in food. He stays to help, but keeps his camp separate. Callie brings him food and coffee, and talks to him. Her father and mother, Jake and Cora, warn Fox to stay away from their daughter. He listens, but then trouble comes in the form of Max Starbeau.

    Mr. West has done his research for this book. Reading how the families build the caves to live in during the winter, the trouble with the Indians in the area-the Blackfoot and the Gros Ventre, the frightening circumstances that Callie faces when she is kidnapped by Starbeau, and how Fox tracks her down and returns her to her family are so well-written you can see what is happening as it is described. If you love adventure with just a touch of romance, you will love this book. The Blackfoot Trail is a must read for anyone who loves Louis L'Amour westerns, historical fiction westerns, or who wants a great book to read. Charles G West is a must read author! I am looking forward to reading other books by him.
