It covers all aspects of the business of practice including the current market for specific practices, client relationships, financial management, human resources, and even building a clinic. It is an update of the 2007 edition and it has up-to-the-minute demographic and market information.
Purpose: The book is designed as a valuable resource for veterinarians on all things management related. This book is much needed and meets the authors' objectives nicely.
Audience: The intended audience includes practice owners, administrators, associates, and staff. This is also an invaluable book for senior veterinary students and would make a perfect companion for veterinary business classes.
Features: The book covers all aspects of veterinary practice from deciding where to locate a practice (demographics), how to decide if client numbers will be sufficient, how to finance, design, build, and even market the practice. It is filled with algorithms, schematics, flow charts (how to organize the flow of patients when designing a practice), and has a complete technology section explaining how to market a practice via the web.
Assessment: This is one of the most valuable books I have read. It is extremely dense and well researched. It would take a practitioner weeks to collect the information in just one chapter. With its wealth of practical and useful information, it will truly be an invaluable resource for every practice.
