What might surprise new readers to this series is that not only does it have some of the most beautiful and unique art of any manga, but the storyline is unexpectedly complex and poignant. It begins in a straightforward 'Girl seeks revenge, sinner seeks redemption' fashion, but by this volume, things have become deeper and more ponderous than one would expect of such an action-packed story. The question of whether revenge is the answer to Rin's feelings of sorrow and loss has been posed, and Anotsu has been revealed not only as a murderer, but an intelligent and forward-thinking young man. Despite the philosophical nature of some of this conflict, it still remains simple and very easy to sympathize with the increasingly loveable characters. If you value a good story, interesting, believable characters and utterly beautiful art, there is no reason to miss Blade of the Immortal.

Alright... If you like sword fights and a bad-arse main character, this is the manga for you. The art is awesome, totally rough, sketchy, and raw. The storyline can be a little bland at times, but overall, it's an incredible manga.

I have gotten only this far in this series and I find it to be outstanding. This is the first Manga series I have ever read and I am definately not disaapointed. I picked it up by chance and I've been hooked ever since. I highly reccomend reading this book along with every other one in this series. The panels are easy to follow and you are always left wanting to know what happens next. The artwork alone is incredible. I definately give these books two thumbs way up.
