This was an intriguing self discovery story I couldn't put down. I really felt for Kate and was routing for her the whole time. What we think was Kate's former life is filled with twists and turns until the very end. To give away any of the plot would be to ruin the book in my opinion and I hate spoilers. You need to go into this one a blank slate ;) The only reminder I had to continue to give myself through part of the book is that Kate has the mentality of a 17 year old (due to her amnesia), which for me made it feel a bit like a YA, New Adult. As the story progresses so does the writing and POV of Kate and is more women's fiction as it's meant to be. I thought Wardell did an incredible job of making that transition and showing the vulnerability of Kate.

There was no depth to this book The characters said and did what a young Inexperienced romantic 14 year old girl Would imagine. There was no realism to these characters at all. If you like syrupy romances you will like this book

Heather Wardell does it again! Another great page turner - I always know when I read one of her books I should just block enough time to finish the whole book in one sitting. Yes it is just that GOOD!

Have you seen the movie 13 Going on 30, well this book starts quite close to the main theme - missing out on a few years and now trying to live in a whole 'nother world. The comedy of someone waking up and missing out on 15 years and going from a world with very little technology to our world of tweeting, iphones and internet was very fun to read. This is where the story begins, but it ends in a different spot - and I am all the more glad for it! With twists and turns, this book ended up being much more than I thought it would be and I enjoyed the deeper story that was beyond her losing her memories. Kate, the main character, has two men who are trying to help her find her memories and make new ones. She is trying to unlock the past to find out why she has such a strained relationship with one of the men. This review may sound general, but there are some great aspects of this book that I just don't want to spoil, so I don't want to be too wordy in my review. A perfect chick lit read for the new year to remind us to keep our memories close because they can be easily lost. I would definitely recommend this book to all my readers who love a great chick lit with a little love triangle action.

I love all of Heather's books. This book was no exception. It left me wanting to keep reading every spare minute I had throughout the day. If you enjoy Heather's other books, this is a must read as well. Great job Heather!!!

I simply love Heather Wardell's work and just sigh in contentment every time I finish one of her books. Her writing is so fresh, so emotional without being heavy, that I live in a state of excited anticipation waiting for her next release. Blank Slate Kate was no different from my other favorite Wardell reads---I started reading and was immediately drawn in to the story, and found myself unable to put the book down. To read an entire book in one or two sittings as a working mother of a 9-month old is a true accomplishment, something that almost never happens for me anymore. Even books I love, series books I have been looking forward to for months (or longer), take me days to read now. But not Heather Wardell's books. There is just something about her writing that makes me unable to stop reading once I've started. I've just got to know what's going to happen next. Kate wakes up one morning having no idea of where she is, or even what year it is. She feels 17 but quickly realizes her body is much older. She soon learns that she is actually 32, but has no memory of the last 15 years of her life. Kate is taken in by Jake, who seems to be such an all-around good person---at first. Enter in a husband who Kate doesn't know, a domineering mother-in-law, and a thriving business that she remembers nothing about, and Kate has her work cut out for her. I loved living the journey to self-discovery with Kate. I really thought I knew how this book was going to end, but I was wrong. I was so wrong, and I love being surprised like that! Heather took the book in a direction I was not expecting at all. It was an unexpected ending and I enjoyed it more than the ending I had prepared myself for. I loved the character development and the love story. I love Heather's writing and pacing, which kept the book moving quickly. I would recommend Blank Slate Kate to just about anyone. Fans of chick lit will especially love it!

another great installment from Heather Wardell!! Heather keeps you in suspense until the very end hoping for a happy ending! For those who have been following the Toronto series, you won't be disappointed! The characters are well developed, pretty interesting considering one of them is uncertain of who she is! The book focuses on woman's struggle to identify herself and have love in her life. Blank Slate Kate runs the gambit of emotions with the reader. Read it, you won't be disappointed!!

I'm a big fan of this author, however this book just didn't work for me. It felt as if the author was trying to throw too many elements into a single book. As a result, there wasn't very much character development making it difficult to connect with any of them. An even bigger flaw was that the main character's memory is gone back to the age of 17, making her that age emotionally as well. That said, the author moves her mentally into adulthood very quickly. This adjustment isn't even a main topic in the character's therapy sessions. All in all this book lacked what this author typically stellar at...telling a charming love story. I recommend skipping this book and enjoy one of her others.
