Major Jeff Struecker and Alton Gansky in their new book, ¿Blaze

Major Jeff Struecker and Alton Gansky in their new book, “Blaze Of Glory” Book Two in the Special Ops series published by B&H Publishing Group gives us another mission with Sergeant Eric Moyer and his Special Ops team.

From the back cover:  Six men. Two assassination plots. Once chance to save the world.

A sudden and suspicious rise in female suicide bombers sends Sergeant Eric Moyer and his team on a desperate mission to put an end to the bombings, a task that will require them to save over a dozen head-of state…if they can. When they learn the identity of the real leader behind the attacks-someone much closer to home-the team must again travel across the ocean to stop a man whose wealth and ambition is matched only by his madness. The impossible mission is made more difficult by the newest member of the unit: a deeply troubled hero who may get himself-and his new team-killed.

Military procedural thriller doesn’t really do this book justice. While it most certainly is let me assure you it is much much more. Let me put it this way, get ready for a nail-biting, page-turning thriller.  Sergeant Moyer and the team are in deadly danger as they are racing around the globe trying to put an end to an enemy who is using women for suicide bombings. Major Jeff Struecker and Alton Gansky not only know how Special Ops forces work they know how to craft suspense.  So much is going on within the pages of “Blaze Of Glory” and the characters are so real that you care for all of them and want them to succeed, well at least the good guys.  There is more to the story that I didn’t mention but you didn’t really expect me to tell you everything did you?  Otherwise you might not want to read the book and I wouldn’t want you to pass up an opportunity for a terrific read. Major Jeff Struecker and Alton Gansky have written a current spy story with an old-time flair.  There are great themes in this book:  family, duty, country and how God figures in everything.  “Blaze Of Glory” is a book that you will want to start early otherwise you will be up very late as you will want to finish it.  I highly recommend it and am looking forward to more from this talented duo.

"Blaze of Glory" by Major Jeff Struecker

Sergeant Major Eric "Boss" Moyer is the leader of six men in Special Operations that were deployed to Italy to intercept a wealthy Egyptian terrorist, El-Sayyed, who is allegedly behind a rash of female suicide bombers. Working with the Italian military and leaders, they are trying to annihilate any suicide missions ready to blow up the hotel where the Mexican and United States presidents and eighteen other world leaders were having a summit meeting. Unbeknownst to the men at the outset of this mission in Italy, these suicide bomber attempts were also related to drug lords in Mexico.

The missions are treacherous in themselves, but even more so because one of the six men is suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), making the leader and his subordinate leader wonder if they can rely on him in the heat of the battles.

This is my second military read in the past month. As a woman, I wondered how I thought this book would be a good read. Well, I had to strap myself down for the ride of my life!

The reconnaissance and covert actions taken by these six men, along with Italians, were action-packed and heart-poundingly real. The intricate and precise military planning was intriguing and engaging. Once you think you have all the characters and plots identified, the author brings in another group that is intertwined in the action-again and again, merging the story line into one complete work. It kept my interest throughout the whole book.

All the characters were detailed very personably, letting you get to know them intimately, including the soldier with PTSD and his flashbacks. One of the six men on this mission was a Christian who lived out his faith without being preachy to the others. The men knew it and respected him, even calling on him when in need.

The world is evil in many more ways than we care to think of, and I so appreciate our military personnel that willingly give their time, and sometimes their lives, to keep us safe.

So Exciting I Had To Remind Myself To Breathe!

Sergent First Class Jerry Zinsser was a decorated hero, who after rehabilitation, was assigned to Sergent Major Eric Moyer's team as his new surveillance specialist. Moyer's Special Operations unit has been assigned to track down an Egyptian terrorist that uses women suicide bombers to fulfill his "contract" with a Mexican drug Lord. Zinsser, who struggles with hidden demons, tries his best to be an asset to the team, but instead, may put the whole team at risk.

If you only read one book this year, Blaze of Glory should be the one. Written by Major Jeff Struecker, (one of the heroes featured in Black Hawk Down), this book kept me on pins and needles throughout the whole story. It was so realistic I had to keep telling myself it's fiction. The characters were amazing and have left such an impression that won't easily be forgotten. The situations the team dealt with were terrifying, and I had to remind myself to breathe at times. This military thriller is most definitely a real page-turner that held me spell-bound in its clutches from the first chapter. This is truly one of the best books I've ever read. Major Jeff Struecker is one author that should be noticed and put on everyone's to-watch list. His gripping realism has left me awestruck and I can't wait to read more of his work!
