Children's LiteratureIn a story with a familiar theme, Santa's Christmas Eve ride is almost doomed until his helpers pitch in to guarantee a happy ending. In this case, Santa develops a head cold. Everyone says "Bless you, Santa" and finally puts him to bed. The reindeer, Santa's cat and a variety of other helpful animals finish making and wrapping all the toys—and cleaning up all the messes created by Santa's huge sneezes. By the time Santa awakens from his long nap, he is feeling better and the sleigh is loaded and ready to fly. This is not a particularly clever or appealing re-telling of a common holiday story. The illustrations are simple and colorful but are also not especially original. 2004, Tiger Tales, Ages 3 to 7.
