Meet the Author

Melissa Babcock Saylor began a greeting card company with her mother in 1994. Melissa's Art Inc. has grown from having twelve designs to now containg over one hundred. Saylor's cards are now distributed worldwide and can be found in many bookstores, gift shops and art galleries.

The inspiration for Melissa's watercolors is found in her own backyard and different areas around the Williamette Valley. She is an avid gardener and is always on the lookout fo rpainting ideas. Melissa began painting in watercolor when she was fourteen years old and has never stopped. She has a background in advertising and was an editorial artist for one of Oregon's largest newspapers, the Salem Statesman Journal, for eight years. She has also taught watercolor at the local community college but is but is most happy spending time with her family, painting and working on community activities.

Saylor was born and raised in Albany, Oregon. She lives with her husband Steve and their two children in a home on the historic register.
