From Barnes & NobleOur Review
At the start of Blessings from the Other Side, Sylvia Browne makes a wish: "I hope these pages will give you something you need most right now, whether it's comfort, or a smile, or a new approach to an old problem." It's an apt dedication; the book does provide different help for different readers. Drawing on her lifelong work as a psychic and lecturer, Browne offers her advice for life's major passages.
She does this by collecting her lectures -- complete with exercises and affirmations -- into a handy guidebook to life's biggest questions. Browne explains: "The chapters in this little book were chosen from among the topics I enjoy discussing on my lecture tour, along with some of my favorite exercises and affirmations." She includes (among others) her lectures on grief, joy, guilt, and contacting the other side. Each lecture treats an experience common to us all: Browne focuses both on the difficulties we face and on the comforts we win.
But on every subject, Browne proffers her most fully conceived ideas, her best-articulated advice, and her best-loved exercises. For example, she speaks to those coping with sadness: "Ask for any and all help you need.... No one can take your pain away, but there are people out there who can and want to take your hand and guide you through it, so that someday you'll be strong enough to do the same for someone else." In each chapter, Browne includes those thoughts that have helped her clients and the prayers that have moved her audiences.
Whether readers need to reconsider their life's path or overcome its unique obstacles, Blessings from the Other Side offers focused thoughts, experiences, and advice. It's a book to page through carefully, to consider slowly, and to keep for a lifetime.
