    450 pages

I really enjoy the private investgator series by author, Simmons. Jay Lieceister is the hero of the books and he comes across as a realistic, well rounded and likable character. This series of books, while not perfectly edited, are pretty close. The plots are always well thought out and all threads are tied off. These novels do have murder, autopsies, undetailed sex and sometimes other types of violence, but not in gruesome detail. I did not read any curse words in this book with over 450 pages. The flow is good. Descriptions and details are not over done and add depth and interest to the story line. Each book occurs in a different area of the United States, in different seasons and weather conditions. There is only a drop of romance and no religion. These books are not chick lit, nor are they masculine in flavor. They to recide in the middle, so all readers can enjoy them. For ages 18 and up.

    Good mystery

Blind Overlook is the first JC Simmons book I have read. It is a page turner for sure. For those of us who do not like sexual content and bad language it is a good clean read. I will read the other books in this sieres.

I did enjoy the book. The resolution of the mystery was a bit of a surprise. I didn't pick up on any of the "signs" until it was almost too late, but that's good. Some of the description was a little more than necessary for my thinking, but it is still better than the complete lack of description some books I have read have had. Over all, it was very entertaining.

    First read

This is my first by simmons but not my last. Couldn't stop reading. The ending was a total surprise. I enjoyed the part of the Detective's wife fight with cancer, so delicately and masterfully done. Liked all the alcoholic data and the well done discription of the country side.

    Excellent

Excellent book that I enjoyed very much. The author's vibrant descriptions of locales and weather are vividly crafted, adding enjoyment to the reading. The characters were well fleshed out, giving them life and depth. Jay's obsession and knowledge of wine and fine spirits brought to mind Lawrence Saunder's character of McNally who lovingly described each of his meals in great detail. I think I prefer learning about wine! All in all, and without giving away the plot, I highly recommend this book. 5 stars, and well deserved.

    Short read

This was a very short read that ended rather abruptly. Still, if it makes a person help others, then it's worth the read.
