Kait Nolan is a new, up-and-coming urban fantasy romance author. Blindsight is a short story, sort of a teaser to the full length novel Revelation which the author says will be available fall of 2011. Blindsight is also part of a paranormal romance anthology called Kiss Me, Kill Me. What I love best about this author is that her stories all start off with action. Blindsight continues in the world of Mirus, a world where we get to meet fae, dwarfs, shadow walkers, drakyns, shifters, demons. This story starts off with Isla a seer, and Ransom a fae assassin. Ransom helps Isla escape a crime lord that forces her to 'see' for him, but she isn't sure if she's escaping one captor only to be used by another. Nolan writes male heroes very well. They are intriguing, strong but caring not to mention hot, and they're not jerks which is so common for male leads in other romance novels. The Mirus stories don't have to be read in order, but the characters get introduced in the previous stories. #1 Forsaken By Shadow #2 Devil's Eye #3 Blindsight / Revelation

I am SHOCKED a free book that I actually enjoyed. The GOOD: The story was very intriguing, it actually kept me wanting to read, if your into paranormal reads then this would be a book for you. Ransom is a contract killer of the worst kind, who is feared, he is the strong and quiet type. You get a sense of a very bad man but I also sense a good in him. Isla has been held captive for 20 years by Bael, who keeps a tight watch over her because of her powers of touch to see the future. Ransom works for Bael at times but sees an opportunity to rescue Isla to take her to the underground who are a group that fights against people like Bael and many others, Ransom has his reasons in wanting to rescue Isla as well as giving her to the underground group. I loved it and wouldn't mind reading about this world of paranormal as it really takes you away to another world when your reading, Ranson and Isla chemistry was good granted you didn't get to see much of it. I haven't read anything by this author, I also see that there are two books already written regarding this series including Mick who the author introduces you to towards the ending of the book. The BAD It's was over so quickly. This was the worst and most wicked teaser, just when you want to know what will happen to Ransom because he was hurt it was over, why because we will have to wait for the full length version of of the book called Revelation. I look forward to the series Mirus and will try to get my feet wet with the other books. ****************** Feel free to join my book group on facebook ( Romance Novel Junkies) we have over 450 members and counting which includes well known and indie authors and avid readers as members who are apart of this group who would love to hear about new books and thoughts also check out our kindle and ebook lending library.

Decently written, but pretty derivative and predictable. Also I got stuck on the character names which reminded me of stuff that I find in Mary Sue fanfic on the web.

This is a short teaser to an actual book. Unfortunately it is very good BUT the book has not been written yet and due to delays will not be released until 2013.

I enjoyed this short story. The ending left me wanting to know what happens to Ransom and Isla. When Isla first encounters Ransom I wondered if there would be chemistry between them. A hired assassin, perhaps Ransom does posess a few redeeming qualities when he offers to help Isla escape. I tried to picture in my mind both Ransom and Isla's physical appearance, maybe the full length book will go into more detail. I will definately purchase the next book in the series when it becomes available and look for more books by Kait Nolan.

Aside from the occasional formatting error, odd word choice and some missing or misplaced punctuation, the writing is nit bad. The story is interesting but there is way too much going on - Vampires, fairies, trolls and goblins, shapeshifters and werewolves, wraiths, dragons, and humanoid animals... all in the first few pages. It's hard to keep track of and really detracts from the story being told. The author would have been better served to just pick one or two, because everything at once just became absurd.
