Overview

Woo-ooo, can you do what an owl can do—blink and wink and swoop in the night? Try it and see! Deep in the jungle, gleaming eyes are watching. Peek in the leaves and you'll glimpse a striped orange paw. ROAR—it's a tiger, so let out your loudest, fiercest growl. It's safer in the meadow, where ladybugs crawl, field mice run, and some small animal goes hop-hop-hopping. What could it be? A sweet bunny rabbit—leap alongside it, and twitch your nose and wiggle your ears. Who is sitting with its mother, not far from the parrots in the green and yellow leaves? A big-eyed bushbaby, looking wide-awake. But there in the hay, curled up tight, lie a pair of sleeping dormice—and you too can say goodnight! 12 pages (all in color), 7 3/8 X 7 3/8.

Kirkus Reviews
The scant five tableaux contained in this lift-the-flap book seem like a great deal more, due to the wealth of line work and the density of Burns's colors. Each setting provides a question and answer: "Who is hopping in the meadow?"-or swooping in the night or watching in the jungle-and then, "Rabbits. Can you twitch your ears and nose and hop like a rabbit?" Burns introduces a couple of animals that are not everyday creatures in the US-dormice and a bushbaby-and demonstrates how they blend into their environments. A sturdily constructed set of adventures. (Lift-the-flap. 1-3)
