My goal is to someday be the person my dog thinks I am. --Anonymous

Bestselling author Dean Koontz says that his dog, Trixie, changed his life and made him a better, happier person. A 68-pound dog who lived close to the ground, Trixie certainly did cast a long shadow. She first became known outside of her own house (dog-house, that is) as a guest blogger on Dean's website, signing off every entry Life is Good, Bliss to You. Now, in this warm and funny book--as told to Dean Koontz--Trixie once again shares her inspiring outlook on life and reveals the eight steps that anyone can take to achieve not merely happiness, but bliss.

Packed with dog wisdom, both poignant and funny, this charming and heartfelt book gives the reader much food for thought--which might not be as tasty as a bowl of kibble but is nonetheless nourishing.

Bliss to You!

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly

Dean Koontz's beloved golden retriever, Trixie (who died in 2007), follows her two books of wisdom (2004's Life Is Good! and 2005's Christmas Is Good!) with this volume about finding happiness by emulating dogs. Her advice includes living in the now, enjoying each moment to the fullest; putting aside worries about things one can't control; loving unconditionally and striving to make others happy; and accepting loss. Teryn McKewin reads Trixie's words in a voice brimming with good humor and pure delight in life-perfect for a golden retriever-and just a slight guttural quality in the back of her throat, probably meant to convey that this voice can growl and bark as well. Her playful and optimistic tone perfectly matches Trixie's personality and message, and makes this a great choice both for dog lovers and those who enjoy uplifting and reassuring books like the Chicken Soup series. This a wonderful book for the confirmed dog lover. Koontz loved Trixie with all his heart and she spoke to him with her wonderful personality and actions. As so many dog lovers know, if we could love and act with the unselfishness of our doggie companions life would would be so much nicer and we would be much happier. However, those who are not confirmed dog lovers may find the book too cute and miss the joy and love with which it is written.

I thoroughly enjoy reading this book over and over. I use it in educating my clientele. It is fun and informative. I am especially pleased with the title, Bliss to you, because Bliss is our family name and I plan to gift this book to family members. Thank you, Trixie, for sharing your wisdom!

Trixie has such a simplistic view of how humanity SHOULD act. If only we could get this book into the hands of the powers-that-be across the globe. I can almost hear her talking and see that goofy smile on her face.

Bliss to You is a fun and enjoyable book written by Trixie Koontz. If you are a dog lover, this book is for you!. Her actions and thoughts will make you laugh and wonder at the simplicity life can be. I had recently lost my dog prior to reading this book, so there were moments I cried as memories swept over me. But soon, Trixie had me laughing thru the tears. Trixie's 6 rules are the basics which anyone can follow. Enjoy life!

I am a fan of self-help books, and this is one of the best I have read. My dogs have always seemed to have happiness figured out - they are happy to get up in the morning, happy to be fed, happy to take a walk, happy to run, even happy to lay quietly in the sun. In "Bliss to You" Trixie Koontz puts all this wisdom into words which are sometimes humorous and other times poignant. Trixie's eight steps to bliss begin with "Calm" and end with "Gratitude" with lots of advice about humility, doing for others, and having fun - "You don't need yacht to have fun. Rowboat will do. And just because other guy has yacht, doesn't make rowboat less fun". She includes advice on loss and grief, which are the most difficult things to face but are also the teachers of greatest lessons in compassion and empathy. The next time my dog senses my feelings and lies beside me to be pet and stroked, I will remember that he has learned about bliss and I will re-read the parts of Trixie's book to help me toward my own state of bliss.

I loved this little book and I read it again, every so often. I always seem to find something new, or at least, something new seems to touch me. So much doggy wisdom, the kind that only the older doggies have. Written so simply, but has such depth. It's very insightful, and full of the kind of love only an older doggy can give. It's what you see in your old dog's eyes when they put their chin on your knee and give you that "look". It gives you the same feeling as stroking that graying head and studying that face, so loyal, so understanding. They forgive, and this book helps humans with that too.

She's done it again! Even better than her first book, Trixie Koontz has pawed a classic. I give it 5 stars for usefulness because it never fails to make me laugh... really laugh... tears down my cheeks laugh... howling laugh... GOOD dog, Trixie! GOOD dog! If you are cat person you will not like this book. If you love K9s this is for YOU!
