PUBLISHERS WEEKLY STARRED REVIEW: "Farrell marries warmth with tongue-in-cheek wit in this marvelous romantic comedy...Natalie and CJ's journey toward love, filled with scenes of high hilarity and vivid emotion, resonates with warmth and realism. A cast of quirky characters adds just the perfect touch to a heartwarming comedy of errors."

Welcome To Bliss, the Bridal Capitol of the Midwest!

Natalie Castellano practically has it all-beauty, brains, and a stellar reputation. Because childbearing hips and exhaustion lines are totally sexy. And knowing when to let go of her family's failing bridal boutique is smart...right? Plus, who doesn't want to be that divorced mother in Bliss?

With all she has going for her, it would be selfish to secretly wish for love too. Who needs it? Definitely not Nat. But perhaps she does need to take her wedding dress-obsessed little boy somewhere else for a fresh start.

CJ Blue is on top of the world. At least, he was last week when he stood on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Now, he's in an empty confessional, hiding from the hullabaloo of a family wedding. Aka the depths of hell.

His meddling relatives want to poke at the deep psychological wounds he supposedly bears from being a twenty-something widower. But he doesn't want to talk, he doesn't want to be fussed over, and he certainly doesn't want another chance to fail at love. He just wants to get through this wedding and back to his adventurous life.

But when a dark-haired, wounded-eye beauty invades his sanctuary and whispers a secret he was never supposed to know, he gets swept up in her life. Is he brave enough to tackle the adventure of life in Bliss, or will he walk away from the only woman in the world who could offer him love, forgiveness, and a second chance?

I totally loved this story and all the characters, Jamie has a style of writing that will keep you wanting more. She keeps you laughing out loud with her sense of humor, I haven’t found one of Jamie’s book I do not love. Jamie writing never lets you down and you always know when you pick up one of her books there is tons of smiles and laughs waiting for you. At first I was a little lost with the Queen General (QG) but it didn’t take long for Jamie to pull me right in with a book I didn’t want to put down. The book takes place in the town of Bliss where the whole town is about happy ever after. Bliss is the most marries town on earth and that take the title very seriously live for weddings and the games that come with them. Knot Fest and The Husband Games is an annual event where men play against each other in a series of challenges in order to be declared Husband of the Year. Natalie is a divorce single mother who is on The Aisle (which would be main street to us) and is running her mother’s bridal shop. Her mother was the head of and ran The Husband Games until she died a few months ago. Natalie is doing everything she can to make this the best games ever in loving memory of her mother. The Queen General is doing her best to make Natalie’s life a living hell and trying her best to get her off The Aisle. The QG is saying The Aisles are no place for a divorce women and she must go. Natalie is taking all the QG is dishing out just hanging on lone enough to do the games one last time for her mother. Both women get their dirty digs in and will keep you laughing. The one thing that could make this year’s games worse is the man who destroyed her marriage is back in town for a wedding and will be honor his dead wife in the games this year. What she finds out is he doesn’t remember her or how he destroyed her marriage. He thinks she is crazy but is broken when she tells him of the part he played in her divorce. Every where she turns he is there getting into her life and the QG isn’t happy about it. In return she makes Natalie’s life worse than ever. CJ is back for a wedding but he would rather be anywhere else. He is from a big family which gets on his nerves. His parents have a wonderful off the wall sense of humor and name all their child with spice names. This story drove me crazy I just couldn’t think of what CJ stand for OMG I had to laugh myself silly when I found out. I agree CJ is best name for this wonderful man. CJ has problems of his own, he has lived a guilt trip for many years over the death of his wife. He can’t get Natalie out of his mind once he meets her again. He does think she is crazy when she tells him he destroyed her marriage when he can’t place her. He is a former Husband Game winner and they want him back to play the Half-Century Games. Well everyone wants him back but Natalie. As they keep running into each other sparks fly and passion hits. Can they find a place together or will the QG get in the way. The QG has plans for CJ and they sure do not include Natalie. Can Natalie stay one step ahead of the QG or will the QG run Natalie out of town. Can CJ get over his past and find a place to call home along with the love of a good women? As an author Jamie is one of the best, I will always remember her first which was Southern Fried Blues which is still and most likely will always be my favorites . Each of her books always touches a place in me. Her writing style is out of the world, her humor right along with it. I doubt you can read one of Jamie’s books and not laugh out loud, when you are done you will be wearing a smile with a feeling of peace. I just love Kimmie and am so glad she will be getting a book of her own, she is a little out there. Her story should be interesting, I am so looking forward to reading it along with Natalie’s sister who has a story to tell. I wonder why she is so against marriage and why she has no man to call her own. I am so looking forward to more of this series. I have a feeling it is a series I will not want to end.

If you can get passed the bullying by the queen. There is a good story but you kind of get bog down in the negative aspect. Her father doesn't help I found it hard to belief any parent would take up with the person who hurts there child even emotionally. The love story part was cute though.

AudioBook Review: Stars: Overall 4 Narration 5 Story 3 Bliss is a small Illinois town, dubbing itself the “Bridal Capital” of the Midwest. So much so that Main Street is The Aisle, and a huge annual celebration, the Husband Games, is the highlight of the social year, set to promote all things married and wedding. Natalie is back in Bliss, after a horrendous marriage, and is now running her late mother’s bridal shop (one of six in town). Because the Husband Games were important to her mother, she is willing to go to great lengths to make this, the 50th anniversary of the games the best ever in her memory. If only. CJ is a native boy, but has traded in the small town in favor of adrenaline after the death of his wife during her deployment. He’s not at all interested in anything to do with the ‘games’ or any person trying to push him that way. The characters: complete with a totally distasteful “Queen General” who spends her life upbraiding, downgrading and bullying everyone into towing her line. Noah, an adorable and scene stealing four year old, son of Natalie. Kimmie, known for her strange dreams and proclamations of the future and you can’t forget CJ’s family – all of them named for herbs..... The plot – a bit of traditional romance, perhaps a few too many smart-funny moments that distracted from Natalie and CJ and their steps toward a relationship. They both have plenty to overcome after their marriages ended, and with Natalie’s struggles to stand up for herself and speak her own mind, it was frustrating at times. All of the good and bad in a small town was highlighted here, particularly with the long-held reputations from childhood combined with the “you are from here so this must be important to you” attitudes. A few moments of unrealistic situations were balanced by the actual laugh out loud moments, if perhaps overshadowing the lack of solid ‘grab onto this’ moments of development and discovery. Narration from Karen White was a highlight, she manages to not go headlong into the slapstick moments that appeared without losing the humor and often wry self-depreciating tone from Natalie. Clear and present, she gives the humor a moment to shine, while trying to bring the best from the characters at all moments. An interesting start to a series, sure to please those who want a lighter and often sillier listen. I received an audiobook copy of the title from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

An enjoyable, light, fun romance!!!! "There's something you need to know," he said. Her own breath came out loud and uneven. He was entirely in her personal space, but she'd given him enough power as it was. She wouldn't back away, wouldn't let him see her agitation. He tucked her hair behind her ear. Tension took hold of her body. She shuddered, looked up to tell him to stop, but he bent forward, his lips parted, a single freckle on his cheek drawing her attention while his lips got closer and closer and closer until --- "For future reference," he said, "I never kiss horribly." And before she could blink or breathe or think, his lips closed over hers. His grip tightened in her hair, and when she should've protested or pulled away or kicked him in the shins, her body melted into his. Kissing him was wrong.... So wrong. She was so good at so wrong. BLISSED by Jamie Farrell is an enjoyable, light, fun romance! It's the first book I’ve ever read by Jamie (thanks to Karen White!), but it won't be the last. It is the story of divorced single mom Natalie Castellano and sex-on-a-stick widower CJ Blue. It is set in the small town of Bliss, Illinois, the bridal capital of the Midwest. BLISSED was previously published as THE HUSBAND GAMES. I listened to the audio edition. Natalie runs Bliss Bridal located on the main drag of Bliss, commonly known as the aisle. Her mother had been planning the fiftieth anniversary of the husband games when she passed away. The husband games is an annual event where men play against each other in a series of challenges in order to be declared husband of the year and they provide great publicity for the Bliss retailers. A deranged, vindictive woman named Marilyn, aka the Queen General or QG for short, is the head of the planning committee for the games. The QG firmly believes that divorcées should not be allowed on the aisle. To that end, she makes Natalie's life beyond miserable. Even so, Natalie is determined to make this year's golden games the best ever in her mother's honor - though most of her efforts have to done on the sly out of the QG's sight. But, when she comes upon CJ Blue, the smokin' hot guy Natalie blames for breaking up her marriage, in a church confessional in one of the funniest scenes ever, Natalie's life gets exponentially more complicated and exciting. Bliss is a small town and, despite her best intentions, Natalie can't avoid running into CJ. BLISSED is fabulously performed by Karen White, one of my very favorite narrators. I've gotten to where I'll pick up just about anything that Karen narrates. Yes, she's that fabulous! I've found many new favorite authors via Karen - Jamie is one of them! Not surprisingly, Karen’s narration of BLISSED is excellent as she voices a variety of characters from little boys, to old men to autocratic queen generals. Her voice is clear, her delivery is natural and her pacing is perfect. You simply can't go wrong with anything that Karen narrates! I really enjoyed Jamie's humor and writing style. The HEA ending left me amazed, dazed and happy. The next book, MATCHED, features Natalie's sister, Lindsay, who happens to be a fierce divorce attorney. I really liked her character in BLISSED and can't wait to read her story! I would recommend BLISS to anyone who enjoys their romances cute, light, sweet and fun! My full review is posted at Reading Between The Wines Book Club. Please check it out there! 4 Wine Glasses! 5 for the narration!

I really loved this story. The quirky dialogue and sometimes funny and serious natures of the plot make for a great read. I had so much fun reading this and couldn't wait to see what pranks were thrown back and forth. The Self discovery Natalie has in learning to stand up for herself and what she believes in was great to see. And CJ growing and facing his problems instead of running from them was special to see. Lots of laugh out loud moments and I loved every one of them!!

Bliss, the Most Married-est Town on Earth, is the setting of this delightful story. The main street is called "The Aisle" and the businesses cater to weddings, there is a multi-storied wedding cake statue, the Knot Festival, and home of the ever popular Husband Games. Five years ago, Natalie Castellano and CJ Blue competed in the Husband Games, not together, but on different teams. One of the games was a kissing game where the blindfolded husband was led in front of all of the wives and he had to figure out which one was his wife based on her smell. CJ kissed Natalie passionately, in front of her husband and his wife. Her husband Derek stormed off the stage, leaving a pregnant Natalie with guilt, humiliation and a divorce. CJ's wife was a soldier and was later killed while on assignment. CJ then became Bliss's most honored husband because his wife was a hero and he was asked to return to participate in the Golden Husband Games with a "fake" wife. Natalie is all wound up because the Husband Games were her mother's legacy and she is determined to make this year a success. But she is considered the pariah of The Aisle by the Queen General aka the woman in charge of the Knot Festival this year. No matter how hard Natalie works and what good she does, the QG demeans her and it's breaking her spirit. This was a fun read. The characters were engaging and even the most evil character had some redeeming qualities.

A wonderful romantic comedy! I really liked these characters and how they interacted. Natalie's 4 year old son was just adorable! Another funny part was how CJ and his siblings are all named after spices/herbs. LOL I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series!

I received this book for a honest review. Natalie Castellano is a divorced single mother trying to raise her son and make a life for them. But that is one of the hardest things for her living in the town she does. Plus she has an enemy working next door to her who has already taken one of things from her and now she wants it all. Also, the guy that she blames or ruining her marriage is back in town for his sister's wedding and maybe longer. Will Natalie be able to forgive the guy that helped ended her marriage or will she continue to hold it against him? And will she ever stand up and fight for what she wants? CJ Blue us back in town for his sister's wedding but he also get sucked into staying longer than he wants. But he is looking for a way to leave and not get stuck in the town. But one of things holding him back from leaving is the same one that makes him want to leave. Will he give in to temptation or will he run away like he always do? This book was awesome I could not put it down. I can not wait to read the second book in this series. I thin I will adding Jamie to my favorite authors list. I highly recommend this book to others.
