This book is a great resource for teachers who want to incorporate technology into their classroom. The book talks about all sorts of Web 2.0 technologies that teachers can use in their classroom. I listened to a podcast by Will Richardson earlier this year and he really seems to be one of the experts on using Web technologies in the classroom to enhance student learning. The great thing about the book is that Richardson breaks it down into very easy to understand pieces so it is great for teachers that don’t know much about technology yet. Richardson’s writing has a voice that makes it fun to read and easy to understand. I would highly recommend this book to any educator young or old who has thought about incorporating technology into their classroom. Additionally, I think this book is a strong resource for those who already use technology and want to begin to add more technology to their classroom. Richardson starts at the basics and works up for every topic, scaffolding his teaching like only a veteran teacher could. Richardson tells anecdotes about his time as a classroom teacher and the technologies he and his students used on the web to enhance their learning. Unfortunately, this book is slightly outdated. It has been updated a few times from 2006 to 2010, but not since then. The internet is an ever evolving place it is nearly impossible for any print resource to keep up with it. Despite this trouble I think that Richardson has done his part to keep the book up to date and current with the new technologies that arise and I hope he comes out with a new edition soon. -K.
