Overview

It was estimated in 2003 that some 1.4 million healthy years were lost by males because of poor and probably preventable health issues!! What a waste! It often takes the well publicized and very much public battles of celebrities with illness to bring the issue of Men's Health to the fore. We all want to live as long and as healthily as we can, with a good quality of life. In this book, Dr Bernie Crimmins, a leading doctor from Australia, outlines the main health problems that affect males and gives some simple advice on how to prevent, or detect early, those particular diseases which may lead to an early demise. He is aided and abetted by his footballing mate and award winning Cartoonist, Paul Harvey (Harv), whose cartoons  add a light hearted and irreverent touch to a very readable book on Men’s Health. The main aim of this book is to keep it short and simple, to give the reader a stepping stone to take their health seriously and do it for themselves!

Meet the Author

Dr Bernie Crimmins knows and explains the latest in preventative care and good health. “There’s so much good news about Blokes’ Health. My book highlights the danger signs while sharing the good news of what to do, the simple steps that can mean men enjoying life to the full.” Bernie’s brother, Peter, was the star Hawthorn rover who died tragically of cancer at too young an age. Bernie devoted years to being the doctor at the Hawthorn Football Club and today continues to work as a GP. Bernie is a father and husband who when faced with heart trouble did something about it, rebuilt his health and is back swimming and playing football.

Paul Harvey is an acclaimed illustrator, caricaturist and cartoonist who plays football with Bernie in a mature age league that is every bit as committed as the younger leaguers.
