Book 1 - Taming the Vampire (a novella)

Demon hunter Liz Marlowe and vampire Jack Morgan have hated each other from the moment they met. But when a powerful enemy threatens their beloved city of Boston, they form a reluctant alliance. It's supposed to be temporary - just one night, in fact. But as the tension between them builds to the breaking point, neither is prepared for what happens next.

Book 2 - Bound by the Vampire (a novella)

Celia Albright, an eighth-blood Fae and a spellcaster, is having a very bad day. She's being targeted by an unknown assassin, and she goes to the only person in Boston who might be powerful enough to help her: vampire Evan Grant. Soon, Celia and Evan find themselves caught up in an adventure neither of them expected - and an attraction neither of them is ready for.

Fae princess Jessica Greenwood has never questioned that her duty to her people comes before her own wishes. To avert a war between dimensions, she agrees to an arranged marriage with a stranger - the Dark Fae prince. Taming the Vampire 4.5 stars. This might be a novella, but it packed a good read for the length of the book. Even though Liz and Jack seem to dislike each other, it brought out good chemistry that readers will love. Jack's verbal witty attacks towards Liz were cute. Only Liz and Jack can say I hate you so many times and make it sound so sexy. Needing to battle the threat, Liz and Jack needs to perform a ritual to become stronger. What the ritual entails gets an A+ from me. Once their moment came to initiate the ritual I had different stages of enjoyment. First, an awkward moment, then an entertaining moment, and lastly, a very hot sexy moment. The action towards the end was pleasing and I enjoyed Liz's best friend, Celia; hope we read about her in book 2. Bound by the Vampire 4.5 stars. The story dives right in, which is always a plus for me. Right away, it seems, Evan and Celia both are so opposite and yet it works within the plot. Evan is a rude, bad to the bone, and sexy vampire, and I loved his behavior. I also enjoyed his vampire tendencies throughout the book. Evan isn't a fan of the faeries, because of what they did to his maker years ago, so helping Celia, may not come easy at first. Celia is quite and very reserved, although she is only part fae. We got to know about her a bit in book 1, Taming the Vampire. Her explanation on why she is being chased was deep, Fae realm, dreams, and absinthe, it all ties in together. We also got to know a bit about the infamous assassin, Hawk, who is trying to kill her. I can only see good things taking place if there is to be a third book. I enjoyed seeing Liz and Jack again. Claiming the Vampire 5 stars. The beginning of the story gives a briefing of the last book Bound by the Vampire on what happen with the absinthe. Book two is where we met Hawk, a vampire assassin. Although he seemed like a villain at the time, there was something about his character that left a lasting impression. In the previous book, he didn't complete his last assignment; he is back in Claiming the Vampire with a score to settle and it's with a fae. I enjoyed getting to know Hawk and his history as well as the drive that he has with the goal he's trying to accomplish. Jessica is a fae princess and dealing with vampires is a no no, as they are not to be trusted, but her attraction to Hawk is undeniable. She is also engaged through an arranged marriage that will help bring about peace; Jessica has quite the dilemma when it comes to her feelings and who to trust. Hawk and Jessica's relationship and the build up to it was interesting and good. Hawk seems like this dark assassin but here he is in love with a girl and he seems a bit helpless and a bit desperate at times and that's what made me love their love. Secondary characters were a huge bonus and I loved them. I was so excited that the author brought back both previous couples from book one and two Liz, Jack, Celia and Evan. And trust me when I say, their scenes were not lacking. Celia and Evan O..M..G, the things a girl has to do to claim her vampire (lol). Celia's desperate times calls for desperate measures and involves chains, and not in a bad way. Like book one I had different stages of enjoyment when it came to the claiming ritual for Celia and Evan. First, I was shock because I didn't see that coming, and then I felt excitement and then a sexy moment. Liz and Jack were naughty and I loved it. Storyline: GREAT Enjoyment: GREAT Intimacy Level: VERY GOOD

If you like Night Breed, or any of the vampire romance series out there at this one to your list of reading material, its a fast paced series. But it has some interesting ideas and of course blends two of the favorites thanks possibly to Sookie Stackhouse the whole Vampire Fairy relationship thing.... Either way its a delightful series, with potential.

This collection is enjoyable. The first two selections are novellas, a kind of introduction to this world and the characters. They were good, except that they were too brief for me. I wanted more. The third selection is a full story which incorporates the characters and back stories into a satisfying conclusion. This author created a world where elves, humans and vampires coexist and covers topics not too far from our daily lives: honor, love, choices and learning to work with those who are different from ourselves.
