Overview

"What's the first thing you think of when I say 'angel'?" asked Mallory. Alice shrugged. "I don't know... guns?"

Alice isn't having the best of days - late for work, missed her bus, and now she's getting rained on - but it's about to get worse. The war between the angels and the Fallen is escalating and
innocent civilians are getting caught in the cross-fire. If the balance is to be restored, the angels must act - or risk the Fallen taking control. Forever. That's where Alice comes in. Hunted by the Fallen and guided by Mallory - a disgraced angel with a drinking problem he doesn't want to - Alice will learn the truth about her own history... and why the angels want to send her to hell.

What do the Fallen want from her? How does Mallory know so much about her past? What is it the angels are hiding - and can she trust either side?

Meet the Author

Louise Morgan’s first short story was published by the British Fantasy Society in 2008, and her work has since appeared in venues including Hub Magazine and Morpheus Tales. Born in Wales, she now lives with her husband and son in Brighton, England, placing her firmly on the front line in the event of a mutant-squid attack. This is not something she likes to think about. “Blood and Feathers” is her first novel.

Reviewed by Janessa, Age 15 for Citybook Review Alice is unaware that she is half Angel and is being hunted by the Fallen angels while the Angels want to send her to hell, but it’s not what you think. Losing her mom when she was only six and just witnessed her father’s death, her only hope seems to be a drunken disgraced Angel, Mallory, who has been tasked with watching over Alice, and Gwyn, an Angel whose wings have been clipped, has been tasked with watching over Mallory, and she’s not even sure who to trust anymore. While Alice doesn’t go through the looking glass, she will have to face the war between heaven and hell. “Hey, define what’s supposed to be normal. You’ve got wings and I just torched a guy. Again.” This was a good book, but I felt Alice was a really weak character and easily pushed around. For someone who is the saving grace of humanity, you’d think the author, Lou Morgan, would have made Alice more independent and confidant, especially in a Young Adult book where she has lost both of her parents and the world depends on her to save it. Still, it was really good, and I would read more by this author. *This book was provided in exchange for an honest review* *You can view the original review at City Book Review

This book was grate. The only thing that I didn't like was the beginning. It was a hard start but worth it!

I was skeptical about the whole cliché of "angel rescues girl in trouble" story line, but I was willing to give this one a shot. And was very pleasantly surprised. There was actual character development and the angels (even the "good" ones) were pretty badass and had faults. I eagerly await more from Lou Morgan.
