Overview

A murdered caravan merchant, a threatened city, and a forbidden magick that could start a war.

As Marshall of the City of Dreams, Marcellus deim Lazar must solve the murder of a half-breed deim merchant discovered in a place no deim should be. Long have the Cartos ruled, but now whispers fill darkened alleys with rumors that the deim may take back the long-denied power that their half-Cartos bloodline gives them.

Meet the Author

Karen Abrahamson wrote her first poem at age six. Since then she has written and sold poetry and short fiction. In her words, “a bad day of writing is still better than the best moments of working for a living”. After a wandering youth that took her across North America countless times, she currently lives in the Metro Vancouver area of Canada.   An inveterate traveler, amateur photographer, and a fan of old maps, Karen keeps a loaded backpack to hand because she never knows when she might meet a destination she can't refuse.

I've read a number of stories in Karen L. Abrahamson's Cartos world and I can't recommend them highly enough. Original premise, engaging characters, fast-paced... And her stories span centuries. Excellent stuff. Blood and Magick if my favourite of her short stories so far, and that's saying a lot! I really like how she's taken a minor character from The Warden of Power novel and let us see how he became the man he is. Looking forward to more of Ms. Abrahamson's stories.
