This novel is a fitting continuation to the Blood Angels saga, which began two books ago with Deus Ex Sanguinius. Faction, infighting, and tradition are all hallmarks of this tale, as well as an epic appearance by one of the most beloved charachters in 40k, Emperor rest his soul...Make sure you've read the previous books, but this is a must read for any Astartes fan, and really captures the interaction between successor chapters in a way that few other books have bothered to explore. Choose your friends wisely, and watch them anyway, you're about to set foot upon Baal!

Loved the book. Just as good as the first one. For what the main character is, he is more human seeming than the others.

When I finished this book the first thing I thought was, "Disappointing". I enjoyed the first to books in this series tremendously. Brother Rafen was a poignant, heroic and engaging character. This book falls far short from it's predcessors. The story was unbelievable... even for a book set in the year 40,000. The characters seemed hollow and lacked any meaningful development. It had it's moments but that's about all that can be said for it.

I am very sad to say that this was not what i was expecting, i read the prequals to this book and they were both very good and this one however was lacking heavily in nearly every department for a reader... i'm an amiture High school student who has never taken a class or the otherwise on how to write and the book im writing (nothing to do with warhammer) Is better than this.
