    Who would have guessed?

Who would have guessed that gory fantasy mayhem could mix with American football? This is a fun start to the Blood Bowl trilogy! Familiar Warhammer character types compete in this bloodthirsty game league, in honor of the god Nuffle. (NFL, get it?) The book is full of football-inspired puns in the spirit of Discworld, and the story takes many amusing turns. Let me correct the blurb on this Web page: 'Dunk' Hoffnung is your main character, and Dirk is his estranged brother. He was never a barbarian he just tried his hand at dragonslaying. He takes a chance on playing pro Blood Bowl, which is more dangerous but much better-paying than being a hero. Crooked bookies, sneaky wizards, and unfinished family business threaten him off the field.
