Overview

Headstrong heroine Faith Reynolds returns in this thrilling sequel to the paranormal romance Blood on the Moon!

After surviving being kidnapped by a vampire, Faith would just love to focus on some alone time with her hot (though occasionally furry) boyfriend, Lucas. Unfortunately, with a vampire uprising on the horizon and her best friend, Derek, about to wake up and find himself transformed into a half-werewolf, half-vampire being without a beating heart, Faith has a few other things to take care of first.

Faith is not without help, in the form of her newfound powers of sensing people’s emotions and being able to influence werewolves’ actions, not to mention her begrudging but rather helpful boyfriend. Even so, convincing a werewolf packmaster to prepare for an epic battle may be difficult to do without solid evidence.

Lose yourself once more in the deliciously suspenseful world of werewolves versus vampires, otherworldly boys with deadly charm, and addictive, spine-tingling action and romance!

Praise for Blood on the Moon:

Publisher's Weekly

"An entertaining story with a juicy climax and cliffhanger ending."

Books Live Forever Blog
“If you like vampires, vampires, hypnotics and shape shifters, this will be a great book for you.”

Doctor’s Notes blog review
“The author had a great writing style and showed both sides of the vampires and werewolves and how different they really are. She also created a unique character in Derek with him being a mix of both sides. This story kept me hooked and wanting to read more to see what would happen next. I recommend this read to others.

Reading Lark blog
“Jennifer Knight has created a fun, dark world that lives on the cusp between YA and New Adult lit…Blood on the Moon kept me up until the wee hours finishing it.”

Rhapsody in Books blog
“This is a fun series: light, romantic, even sexy. The second book, like the first, ends in a big cliffhanger, one that makes me eager for the third volume.”

Children's Literature - Magi Evans
In this sequel to Blood on the Moon, Faith Reynolds, a student at Colorado State University, has found herself in the middle of a feud between a vampire clan whose murder rate is escalating, and the local werewolf pack, the humans' protectors against the vampires. Tensions continue between Lucas, Faith's werewolf boyfriend, and Derek, Faith's best friend since childhood. Derek, a vampire/werewolf hybrid called a Viran, struggles to control his abilities, and vacillates between the werewolves and the vampires, endangering the lives of Faith and Lucas as well as his own. Meanwhile, Faith is honing her paranormal skill of mind control over the werewolves, especially Lucas, and the supernatural connection between them is what saves her life in the final climactic attack. Knight's characters are a bit shallow, and many of Faith's actions are cause for incredulity. However, the choices that the three protagonists must make are very serious; each character knows that no matter what choice he or she makes, there will be horrible consequences, and readers cannot help but empathize. Many twists add to the tension, but the abrupt ending may be disappointing, although it serves to set up the next book in the series. Teens would find it helpful to read Blood on the Moon before embarking on this installment, because Faith, in narrating her story, refers back to events in the first book without explaining who certain characters were or how those events came to pass. Fans of this genre will recognize some similarities between Knight's books and the "Twilight" series. Those fans looking for something a bit different might want to try Laini Taylor's Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Reviewer: Magi Evans

From Chapter 1: The Hunt

"Lucas, I’m dying.”

He approached me on silent feet, head bent to inspect my wound.

"You’re such a baby,” he said and turned away.

"Seriously,” I croaked, clutching my toe. "It’s going to fall off.”

"Shh,” he hissed. "How are we supposed to get the jump on a vampire with you whining constantly?”

I let my throbbing foot drop, carefully avoiding the stray log I’d kicked. "I’m just nervous.”

"If you were going to wimp out, you shouldn’t have come.” He glanced over at me. "Do I need to take you back?”

"No!” I was nervous, but I still wanted to help. After all, how many times does one get to go vampire hunting with a werewolf and live to talk about it?

Well, I hoped I lived to talk about it, anyway.

"Good,” he grunted and beckoned me further down the side of the barn. "Because I don’t know how much use this will be without you.”

I couldn’t help but smile at that. The fact that a three-hundred-year-old werewolf needed my help was pretty cool. Add in that Lucas had actually let me come on this trip…well, it was just short of a miracle. Not that this was some joyride through vampire-infested lands. No, this mission into a dead vampire’s lair was occurring for one purpose and one purpose only: to prove to the pack that there was, in fact, a vampire uprising.

I have to say this book was very addicting. It had all of the paranormal elements I love with werewolves and vampires mixed in with a human heroine that is a little bit different also. Faith was such a cool heroine and I loved the ability that she had. I loved that she was also a strong heroine but understood when she needed help it was ok to receive it. We start this book out with meeting Faith who is out with her boyfriend Lucas hunting down a vampire. They are trying to prove that a vampire uprising is going on to Lucas's werewolf pack. There are some events that take place and lead to Lucas being tried and sentenced to a night chained with silver and unable to run with his pack on the full moon. I have to say I felt so sorry for Lucas having to go through this but loved that Faith was there to help him through it. I loved Lucas. He was such a strong character and really loved Faith. I didn't like the way he would sometimes treat Faith though. He was a straight up jerk to her at times even if I understood is reasoning behind it that didn't make it right. Faith was also dealing with her friend Derek and how he would be when he awoke. Derek we learn has become a vampire and werewolf hybrid. He has been asleep for a while and when he woke up nobody was sure how he would be. I liked that Derek was ok when he woke up and was still a lot like the Derek that Faith knew and loved as her best friend. I have to say that I liked Derek more than Lucas and loved him with Faith. I wished they would have gotten together. Derek was off the charts awesome too with all his amazing abilities and good looks. He was such a good friend to Faith and I loved the way he stood up for her. Faith,Derek and Lucas end up having to work together to try to bring down the vampires. I liked the way that Derek was willing to work with the vampires to try to bring them down if it meant keeping Faith safe. Faith learns that she is wanted by the vampires for her abilities because they want her on their side. I liked that Faith didn't let anything get her down and kept plowing through everything that was thrown her way. Overall I loved this book. It was a fast read with great characters and a great plot. The author had a great writing style and showed both sides of the vampires and werewolves and how different they really are. She also created a unique character in Derek with him being a mix of both sides. This story kept me hooked and wanting to read more to see what would happen next. I recommend this read to others.

Reviewed by Janessa, Age 15 for Citybook Review With all of the hype of Vampires and Werewolves, I’m always curious when I will come across a book that just finally makes me say, “no more.” Thankfully, this wasn’t one of them. This book is packed with supernatural from chapter one to the last page and always keeps the reader anticipating what is yet to come. It was definitely hard to put down. “Careful, I think your tail is wagging.” This is book two in this series, and, for those readers like myself who have not read the first book, that is okay. It is so well written you won’t even know there is a prior book. Faith, a college student at Colorado State University, has supernatural powers, and her boyfriend Lucas is a werewolf. He believes there is a vampire uprising about to happen, and it just so happens to be with Vincent, his vampire rival of 300 years. Vincent has his eye set on Faith with either changing her into a vampire or killing her. He doesn’t care which one, just as long as it happens. In the mix of it all is Faith’s friend Derek who also attends the University and comes into the crossfire; however, I won’t give all of the story away. Instead, just read it yourself. You won’t be let down. *This book was provided in exchange for an honest review*  *You can view the original review at City Book Review

Lucas, Faith’s werewolf boyfriend, believes there is a vampire uprising and is trying to prove it even though the pack leader refuses to believe him. Then Derek, Faith’s ex that was turned in revenge, wakes up. The first hybrid vampire/werewolf, no one knows what his abilities are or even if he is going to be sane in the end. Faith is torn in two. She wants to be with Lucas, help explore her abilities and how they interact with Lucas. But she is also pulled to Derek, it is her fault that he is a hybrid and she is trying to do everything possible to help him adjust and to keep Lucas from killing him. Then the murders start happening again. Something is in the works with the vampires, the question is what. It looks like they are trying to get Derek to go to their side because of how powerful he is. Faith is also trying to go back to her old life, but she is having trouble trying to connect to her old friend, Heather, that has turned to drugs after her breakup with Peter. Faith has got to get her life in order before she ends up on the wrong side of the vampires. So I have a confession, I have both books in the Blood Moon series but I grabbed the wrong one to read first. I don’t have the back story to go off of, but that didn’t matter. This Blood Crave was written so well that I didn’t have to read the other first, it was easy to figure out what was going on. I understand Faith’s love for Lucas and the dilemma of wanting to be turned or not so she can be with him forever and the whole controlling his triggers. I was a bit miffed at her constantly running to Derek and keeping Lucas from killing him. I understand how she is guilty about his being turned. But really, she is ruining her life over someone that cheated on her and is constantly trying to get between her and her current boyfriend. I was also irritated about how she keeps thinking that she can just join Lucas or Derek and fight the vampires herself. Did she not remember anything about her fight in the last book? Does she not see what these creatures are capable of? I admit that I was about ready to slap her upside her head with her stupidity. Argh! Ok, deep breath. Over all, this is a good story. I like the concept and loved the surprise ending. Even though I read them in the wrong order, I really want to see what happened to start Faith’s story. This is one book that I will recommend with the warning to not expect a lot of brain power from Faith. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS “Blood Crave” by, Jennifer Knight *First I need to tell you that this book is a sequel. The first book in this series is called “Blood on the Moon” and I really enjoyed it. This series follows Faith Reynolds, her werewolf boyfriend Lucas, and her best friend Derek. In “Blood on the moon” Faith finds out about the supernatural world, learns about a vampire uprising, and falls in love with Lucas. At the end of the first book Derek is bitten by both a vampire and a werewolf, and we are left with lots of questions. “Blood crave” lets us know what happens to Derek and we find out more about the vampire threat. We also get to delve deeper into the relationship between Faith and Lucas which is my favorite part. Let me start out by saying that overall I liked “Blood crave” and I will continue reading the series. I felt like the book had a good flow and it kept my interest till the last page. (It also had an unexpected twist that was my favorite part of the book) I enjoyed the romance between Faith and Lucas and was happy to see it grow deeper. I also felt that the changes with Derek were very interesting and I look forward to seeing what’s in store for him in the next book. Now to the thing that bothered me. I really felt like all three of the main characters spent too much time throwing emotional tantrums. Faith, Lucas, and Derek kept doing things that made me want to reach in the book and shake them. That being said, I have to give the author props for eliciting emotion from me. (I was not bored) I have heard some readers say that they get annoyed with too much teen angst in a book. I feel that if you are going to read a teen novel that you have to go into it expecting the angst and just go with it. Like I said above, I enjoyed “Blood crave” and I am excited to read the third book in the series. Jennifer Knight is a talented new author and I am happy to have her books in my collection. (Just a side note: “Blood crave” has some sexual content but it’s tastefully done and is safe for younger readers)
