    Blood Is Thicker

In the beginning of this story there¿s a boy name Hakeem .He lives in California Hakeem just learned that his father is sick and his parents can no longer afford their home. Now his family has to move to his uncle¿s house in faraway Detroit. Things go from bad to worse when Hakeem is forced to share a bedroom with his moody cousin, Savon. They where once childhood friends, now they are ready to go to war with each other, and the outcome of the battle promises to change their lives forever. There are many characters in this story like Hakeem is the main character of this story he grew up in California with his mom and dad and sisters. Hakeem is skinny, tall and has braids Hakeem is a smart kid who like to work hard in anything he does especially school. The second character is Savon he is Hakeem cousin from Detroit Savon is big and tall but he¿s a big mouth likes to judge everyone. Savon likes to work but mostly hangs out with his friends every other day. Third character is Anika she is a short, thin girl she lives her gramothers house right next to Savon house. She is a sweet girl that¿s like to help people. The most important passage in the story is when Hakeem and Savon get into a fight it all started when Hakeem arrived to Savons house. Hakeem glanced up from the trunk and saw a muscular young man with tightly braided cornrows step out of the house and came toward his mother. ¿He wore a white t-shirt and navy blue and white striped athletic pants¿. Savon came up to Hakeem going to reach for the bags when he said. ¿Man you always were skinny, cuz. But now you look like a toothpick¿. Hakeem blinked for a second, Unsure how to respond. Hakeem was trying to be funny and said ¿That¿s alright savon I remember you being a little thick in the middle you being a little thickness left your stomach and went to your head. Savon looked mad and said another comment ¿But its all good cause while you spent years being everybody¿s favorite son, I spent sometime hitting the weights. And from what I see weights would do your skinny butt some good¿. Hakeem swallowed hard. ¿ He was stunned, but no one seemed to hear the comments his cousin made. For an instant, he felt his old stutter begin to seize him. He shook his head and try to make a comeback but before he can say anything Hakeem sisters came and grabbed Savon by they arm and brought him in¿. This is how the war between Hakeem and Savon starts. The Quote that I used is important because this is how Hakeem and Savon get off in a bad start while reading the story it gets from bad to worse Hakeem and Savon get in to a fight. The reason they are fighting is because Savon used to work with his dad but when Savon started to get bigger Savon didn¿t want to work he wanted to hangout with his friends. Now that Hakeem their his Uncle James Savon father ask Hakeem for help so Savon gets jealous that Hakeem is the one getting all of the attention in the house. I disagree with this book because relatives shouldn¿t be fighting even if the where joking around because they will end up fighting like Hakeem and Savon did. Even if one gets a little jealous they should talk it out not make fun of each other person and not make this a contest between who¿s the best. This reminds me of when me and my cousin had an argument because I would always get what I wanted and he would get mad at me, but we both sorted it out and now where like best friends.

This book is just like my old school.

Hakeem Randall just found out that his family has to move from California to Detroit,so he has to break up with his girlfriend. When he gets to Detroit his cousin, Savon, gives him a hard time because everyone is bragging on Hakeem. If you like an action/romantic book check this one out.

    more from this reviewer

A very Intriguing book, and i could not put it down.

    Blood is Thicker

If you've ever moved from your house to an unfamiliar area you would know exactly how Hakeem feels. Hakeem just moved from Los Angeles to Detroit; but to make it even worse his father was just diagnosed with cancer. Also Hakeems cousin Savon, is bullying him and Hakeem suspects him of a crime. Will Hakeem's father recover? Is Hakeem's cousin going to get in trouble with the law? You'll just have to read the book to find out.

    good book!!!!

This book is called Bluford High: Blood is Thicker it's about this boy named Hakeem Rendell he lived in California .He just found out that he has to move because his dad had discovered he had cancer. Hakeem is mad because he has to leave his girlfriend and the friends he grew up with. But when he gets to his aunts house he notices his cousin went from being the little chubby good kid to growing up acting like he's a gangster with all his friends who don't look like the best group to run around with. Now that he lives with his aunt his dad has got weaker but still wants to work at his brothers (Hakeem's uncle) furniture store Hakeem has to work there also to help his dad pick up heavy furniture because he is unable to, there is a rampage robberies going on in the neighborhood and no one really knows who it is. Hakeem notices something going on with his cousin, like how he's always gone with his friends. He also sneaks out at night. But one of the weirdest things is how he doesn't work but goes out and gets nice things. So Hakeem follows him one night and figures some interesting things out about his cousin.

This book keeps you interested. It's not a set on the edge of your seat thriller or anything like that. Its just makes you stop and take everything in then continue reading. It did this to me numerous times while is reading it. It helped me better understand the book when id stop and take everything in for a few seconds. This book is a book that makes you want to read because you want to know what ends up happening at the end. It's a great book and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone because there is a way everyone can relate to it.

    A reviewer

There is a boy named Hakeem Randall. He is going with Darcy Wills but has to break up with her because his family is moving to Detroit with his Aunt,Uncle, and cousin Savon. They are moving because Hakeems father has kidney cancer and could not afford their home any more and could not pay bills.Things were not going great his cousin is sneaking out late at night and going somewhere. There has been alot of breakins at stores and Hakeem thinks Savon is doing when he looks in Savons drawer and finds alot of money, new shoes laying on the foor, and new c.d.'s in his closet.Hakeem is now seening a new girl who works at a laundromate and has plans on moving to 'Cali' with her cousin. One night Hakeem followed Savon out the window to where he had been going.Hakeem finds out that his cousin is not doing the crimes but he is proforming on a stage with his group and making money everytime he does a show. One day Hakeem was coming home when he saw that girls house door open he went inside and said hello but no one was in there he found his journal right where he had left it the night before when he was over there inside was a note from her the nursing home people came to get her grandmother and she left about 2:00am and went to 'Cali' at the end everything became all happy again.

    This book is awesome

This book was awesome. I enjoyed reading it because my brother and I had the same problems as Savon and Hakeem have. He always was the perfect one and everybody was always on my case. It made me want to hate him, but when it all comes down to it he is my brother and I have to love him no matter what.
