Blood of Pioneers

Overview

Hannah craves excitement, but all local adventures dried up long ago, when her parents unpacked their wagon on the Michigan frontier. Then war breaks out and her father and brother leave to fight the Confederacy. Hannah is left at home chafing under the boredom of never-ending chores--until unscrupulous speculators set their sights on the unmanned farm. The one place she longs to leave suddenly becomes the one place she'll do anything to save.

Meet the Author

I love children's literature. I became a teacher, in part, because I never outgrew these wonderful stories. When I tried my hand at one, I was hooked! So who am I and what do I write? Let me nutshell that with three words:

Adventure - I won't read a story that doesn't transport me to a new, exciting world. I won't write one, either.

Innocence - My target audiences range from 9 to 15. Kids. I'll never market profanity or controversy to them. Instead, I rely on solid, old-fashioned story-telling.

Substance - I prefer stories with some depth to them. A hero who grows and learns and changes can influence a reader to do the same. Layers of meaning will push readers into new areas of thinking.

Though I write material appropriate for younger readers, many a grown-up has applauded my work and asked, "Why is this just for kids?"

*I like to make a variety of resources available to compliment my books in the classroom. Please visit www.michelleisenhoff.com for downloadable... Read More
