    Wonderful surprise!

I am always so excited to actually read a book that is worth the time spent reading it. This story, while it does start out a little slow, really picks up. I enjoyed the characters as well. The author did a really great job with the vivid character development. I do look forward to book 2. There are side stories, however, with some of the characters.

This is a wonderful book. It has many of the characteristics of the Game of Thrones series or Lord of the Rings which make it great. I looked forward to the next time I got to pick it up and read further. And, when I got to the end, I was sad that there wasn't any more to read. I am ready to start on the next book. I really enjoyed seeing Christianity placed into a fantasy novel in a positive way. Never fear -- the "real" world is included as there are bad Christians in the list of characters, too.

The few criticisms I have are minor. There are some errors -- either typographical or the wrong homonym. And the "leg" measurement was always distracting.
