Overview

As Faith Reynolds enters her freshman year of college, she is a complete and utter nervous wreck.  With her best friend Derek suddenly pulling out the romance card and her dark, mysterious classmate staring her down at every turn, Faith somehow feels stuck in the middle without dating either one.  And fortune may or may not be with her when a devilshly sexy stranger offers her a welcome escape.

Boys, romance, classes, and annoying roommates are all within the realm of the expected for a college frosh.  Trying to solve the mysterious murders of young college coeds near campus is not.  Darkness seems to be creeping into every corner of Faith's life, no matter the hour.  And when she seeks the truth, danger seems to be the only thing that finds her.

Faith is well aware of the strange currents in the air, particularly when she sets off static sparks with everything she touches.  Before long, she finds herself entrenched in the deep-seeded battle between werewolves and vampires.  The war has reached the tipping point, and Faith has the power to determine where the scales fall.  But the most important question may be with whom does her loyalty lie?

Deliciously suspenseful and immediately addictive, Blood on the Moon features a headstrong heroine and all of the thrills, chills, and otherworldly boys with deadly charm that a human could ask for.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Freshman Faith Reynolds is finding Colorado State University frustrating and confusing enough without her "seriously good-looking" best friend Derek trying to change their platonic relationship into a romantic one. Instead, Faith is attracted to Lucas, her aloof project partner who is rumored to be part of a weird and isolated mountain family. Despite the recent murders of five young women in the area, their bodies found drained of blood, Faith engages in risky behaviors like drinking too much and letting a sexy stranger drive her home. She narrowly escapes danger thanks to Lucas, but is soon caught in a conflict between vampires and werewolves. Relationship situations ring true, though Knight's debut novel is heavy on the angst as Faith wallows in her inability to truly love ("hat neither of you get is that I'm as screwed up as you two. I don't have some freaky supernatural thing going, but I have my own issues"). While it doesn't stand out in a crowded genre, it's an entertaining story with a juicy climax and cliffhanger ending that sets up an inevitable sequel. Ages 13–up. (Aug.)

"The enthralling plot paired with the genuine characters made for an addictive read."

Moonlight Book Reviews
“I loved that even though this was a paranormal romance it had the feel of a crime thriller as well. I couldn’t stop reading this book once I got started….Also a side note that has this in its summary : ‘…otherworldly boys with deadly charm ...’ The fact that it lived up to this in the hot boy category made me ecstatic!”

Kirkus Reviews

Knight rehashes themes of werewolf-vampire rivalry and redemptive paranormal romance in a debut that adds little to the genre until the final cliffhanger.

Against the familiar backdrop of remote wilderness and mysterious murders, Colorado State freshman Faith rebuffs the advances of bosom buddy Derek, falling instead for Lucas, an aloof and stunning specimen who morphs into fur, claws and saliva when the urge is strong or the moon is full. When Faith pairs up with Lucas on a school assignment, his one-time best friend and centuries-old vampire nemesis, Vincent, haphazardly targets her as a vehicle to hurt and distract Lucas; Lucas' affection for Faith develops in earnest only after she becomes Vincent's mark. Overly stiff and direct dialogue in this first-person narrative often dulls any excitement that might arise from the conflict and power play over Faith's safety and mortality. Her ability to intuit people's vibes is underutilized, though her telepathic influence over Lucas when he is in wolf form is crucial to the plot. Mounting ardor between Faith and Lucas heightens the stakes of the climactic battle that draws Lucas' pack from its enclave and results in highly unusual circumstances for one of its casualties.

Curiosity about the author's ending promise to tweak paranormal mythology will impel some readers to the sequel, provided they care to learn more about Faith's travails.(Paranormal romance. 14 & up)

Children's Literature - Kirsten Shaw
Faith Reynolds is already finding it hard adjusting to her first year of college in Colorado after growing up in sunny and warm California, but to make it worse her best friend Derek is pressuring her for a relationship. Having been burned in the past, Faith is hesitant to get involved romantically with any guy until she meets the enigmatic Lucas Whelan. Faith is drawn to Lucas, but he pushes her away with each attempt she makes to get to know him. When he unexpectedly opens up to her and tells her the truth about his past life, Faith finds herself in the middle of an eternal war between the supernatural and begins to learn that she has hidden powers of her own. Knight is a refreshing new voice in the world of paranormal romance as she provides her own version of a world where vampires and werewolves exist. Readers will be compelled from the first chapter until the last and are left craving for more. Reviewer: Kirsten Shaw
School Library Journal
Gr 8 Up—Faith Reynolds enters college hoping it will be different from high school and not expecting the same nonsense: annoying people, petty gossip, and boring classes. She's also not prepared for her best friend, Derek, wanting to become romantically involved. Instead, Faith is attracted to her mysterious project partner, Lucas, and intrigued by Vincent, a charming and gorgeous guy she meets at a nightclub. Even though a number of young women have been murdered recently, Faith throws caution to the wind and agrees to go out partying with Vincent. When he tries to kill her, she realizes that he's a vampire. She's saved by none other than Lucas, who's a werewolf and Vincent's ancient nemesis. Faith's and Lucas's feelings for each other grow stronger, even as they realize that he and his fellow werewolves must act quickly to keep more people from being killed. Though there are many werewolf- and vampire-centered novels out there, Knight's debut stands out. This fast-paced book is full of suspense, emotional conflict, and great characters. The gripping ending leaves readers dying for more.—Donna Rosenblum, Floral Park Memorial High School, NY

    Really enjoyed!

Once I started this book I couldn¿t put it down. I found it refreshing the characters are college age and the setting is a college town. Even though I wanted to slap Faith for being ¿that girl¿ that stumbles into trouble, I did enjoy her secret paranormal gift that begins to develop. Lucas, well, all I can say is I¿d give my heart to him too. My question though is why would a 300 year old man be so interested in an 18 year old girl? I¿m never able to wrap my mind around that in any book, but it¿s fiction. The story was great so I just went with it. Lots of action, a bit of suspense, and my favorite ¿ relationship angst ¿ round out this book. There is a sequel in the making.

    This book is AWESOME!!!

Blood on the Moon by Jennifer Knight introduces college freshman Faith Reynolds. She and her long time best friend Derek have decided to go to school in Colorado. Their friendship has become rocky lately, because Derek has decided he doesn't want to be just friends anymore. As she is trying to get through her classes Faith meets a boy named Lucas. He is mysterious, cranky all the time, seemingly can't stand to be around her, and just plain rude. Despite this, there is undeniably something going on between them. When Faith gets between attracts the attention of Lucas’ old rival it brings them together. Lucas devotes his time to keeping Faith safe. What do you get when you add a college love triangle + old rival + a serial killer + and a secret spanning centuries? You get Blood on the Moon by Jennifer Knight. When two worlds collide Faith's life and those of the people closest to her will never be the same. I really loved this book and I don't know why it isn't more popular! Prepare for one doozy cliffhanger that will leave you begging for more!!

Amazing book with alot of tension

If you are sad that Twilight is coming to a close, you can get into Blood on the Moon and you can get your fix of vampires and werewolves. I am sure that this is only the beginning of Jennifer Knight's tale of the age old struggle between the two magical powers, and Faith is the girl stuck between the two groups. There are alot of unanswered questions though, that hopefully will be answered, but overall it does not cloud the book any.
The romance that Faith has with Lucas is really sweet and is not really over the top at all. She also tries to reconcile her feelings for her best friend from school who strangely tries to kindle romance between them again, but it really never works out.
This is just another book in the genre, but I like the story and the ending is more than enough to make you wanting more.

Great debut for the series!! Spoiler in paragraph break...

Faith and Derek, best friends since elementary school, start college together at CSU. Derek tries to pull the relationship card on Faith one night and she refuses to be anything but friends. In enters dark mysterious grouchy Lucas. Faith can sense his danger but is drawn to his sexy, electric "vibe". Finally opening her heart to Lucas she enters his world and gets caught between the feud between mythical creatures she never believed existed until now. For Lucas is a werewolf and Vincent, a vampire is his sworn enemy set out to destroy Lucas and going through Faith and her friend to do it.

..................Amazing debut novel from Jennifer. With the ending left on a cliffhanger for the fate of Faith, Lucas and her beloved friend Derek. What will Derek become? Will Lucas survive his punishment for defying his pack master? Will Faith's new found "ability" be discovered by the pack?......I cant wait for the next installment of this series (I'm assuming there will be one with that ending") Must read!!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review

Blood on the moon is about a woman who is a tomb raider.  She seems to have special abilities to find anything she wants.  She is hired to find a lost relic and ends up in a fight with the gods.

I have to say this book is definitely a page turner.  I was literally pulled in from the first pages.  I have never been much on the Egyptian gods but I have to say this one is DEFINITELY interesting.  The actions starts within the first few pages and continues on till the very end of the book.  The lead female character Mia is a very strong, stubborn woman.  She takes nothing from noone and has a sarcastic sense of humor about her.  I have to say I loved her character and look forward to seeing more about her.  This book is the beginning in a series and is definitely one of the greatest first books I have ever read.  As I said, there is tons of action.  There is also a bit of mystery and suspense.  This author definitely knows how to write an action book that sucks you in and keeps you entranced.  I ignored my family while reading this book!  Thankfully most of it was read after they all went to bed.  If you like a book that has tons of action, some mystery and suspense and a bit of the paranormal to it, you will DEFINITELY like this book.  The other thing I liked about this book is the ending. There was no cliffhanger to it.  It has an ending but the ending leads into the next book in the series.  However, you do not feel robbed and do not feel like you will shrivel up and disappear if you do not get the next book.  You feel satisfied but excited to read more!

I was going to receive a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, but I liked the last Cassiel Knight book that I read so much, that I had to buy this one. I was not disappointed! I really liked this book as well. Even though it is not a series where Lexi and Mikos continue in this one, Harrison and Mia have almost the same type of relationship as those two. Mia and Harrison have history and were together but broke up over their differing moral issues (she wants to sell the artifacts she finds; he wants them to go to museums). They are forced to work together on finding some powerful arrows but Harrison wants to keep Mia from getting them. She needs them to free her friend who has been kidnapped. There are also paranormal forces at work in the form of ancient Egyptian gods. So there is a lot going on and a lot of intertwining and underlying stories. My only complaint with this story was it seemed a bit slow to get started and get to the action. Other than that is was yet another 5 book read from Cassiel Knight. She now has a new stalker!!

Mia is a tomb raider. She has always had a knack for finding lost relics no one thought was real. The thing is that she didn’t know at the time that it is a gift so to speak. She also likes to do things her way and doesn’t like to be bossed around. To bad someone didn’t get the memo. But then someone kidnaps her friend and she will do anything to get her back. She’ll even ask her ex lover for help is she has to. In a race against time she has to find the arrows to save her friend, confront her feeling for Harrison, and find out that sometimes your enemies came becomes friends. Oh and not to mention the gods and goddesses breathing down everyone’s necks.

What a thrill ride. This was a book that I wouldn’t normally find myself reading. I usually read paranormal and all that. So this book was a little bit out of my comfort zone. Well let me just say that I’m glad I stepped out of it. This book was great. There was plenty of action and the characters were very relatable……with being in there situation of course. Mia comes on a little strong but that what made me like her. I don’t think I would have liked this book without Mia. This had plenty of action and it was not lacking in any area. There was danger, lots of tomb raiders, gods and goddesses, and of course hot guys. LOL and what’s a book without danger and trust me Mia likes danger. :D

Mia- she was a firecracker. She did not need anyone fighting her battles for her. No she is the type of woman who takes things into her own hands. She doesn’t get close to people often but when she does she cares about them deeply. She is the kind a person you don’t want on your bad side. I can see me and her being great friends. LOL

Harrison- “He has a stick entrenched up his butt” as Mia would say. LOL Yes, I toned it down a bit LOL While he was like this most of the book, I still liked him. He was just so yummy. He liked Mia but didn’t approve of what she does. So he left her. All I can say is that is a two way street. He could have changed to…just saying. All that being said he still cares about her and that’s what made me love him the most.

Overall fans of Indiana Jones and Laura Croft Tomb Raider will love this book.

Looking for some romance mixed in with the supernatural? Then this book is perfect for you! But let me warn you. The editing of the nook book is absolutely terrible! Maybe it won't bother you, but if you're a grammar nazi like me, it will. It was so awful that it distracted me from the story. Quite annoying and rather irritating.
