I really enjoyed “Blood Red.” The first 100 pages was possibly the most intense stretch of action that I’ve read in a novel in a very long time. There seemed to be something new, and horrible, on each page. Can’t wait for the rest of the trilogy! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I'm not typically a fan of horror fiction, because it keeps me up at night. This book was no exception! It's a full-on creepfest that will have you sleeping with a night light on and checking to make sure all the closet doors are closed.
The main character is believable, and the action is true to life (well, in a post-apocalyptic zombie universe kind of way). You'll want to flip ahead as you're reading, to see whether Rachel makes it out alive -- but you'll find out soon enough, because the book is hard to put down once you start it.
Bovberg's writing is on par with some of Stephen King's finest: Salem's Lot, The Shining, The Stand. I highly recommend "Blood Red."
