4 1/2 Stars: "Combine Dirty Harry with a loving wife and mother and you might end up with Lucy Guardino. Fans of Lyons' hospital-set series will love the change of setting and thrilling pace. One note: readers with a fear of snakes should pick up this story carefully. Regardless, you won't be able to put this one down." ~RT Book Reviews

Readers asked for "More Lucy, Please!" Now Lucy's back and she's facing the fight of her life:

Just your average Pittsburgh soccer mom, baking brownies and carrying a loaded forty-caliber Glock...

Until recently Supervisory Special Agent Lucy Guardino was a shining star in the FBI's roster. But after killing a man and disobeying orders, Lucy's been sidelined, chained to her desk. When a mysterious letter arrives hinting that, thanks to Lucy, the wrong man was blamed for a string of serial rapes, kidnappings, and killings four years ago, Lucy jumps at the chance to re-open the case--despite orders to leave well enough alone.

Her unofficial investigation takes her back to the small town that thrust her into the spotlight four years ago when she saved the killer's last victims--before the killer took his own life and the life of one final victim, a mother who left a ten year old son and loving husband behind.

What Lucy doesn't know is that what happened four years ago was all a lie, fueled by sacrifice and betrayal, designed to shield the real killer.

With the lives of her family, a group of innocent children, and the future of one desperate boy at risk, Lucy races to stop an innocent from killing and a killer from butchering more innocents.

When it comes to "breathtakingly fast-paced thrillers" (Publishers Weekly), New York Times and USA Today Bestseller CJ Lyons is a "master of the genre." (Pittsburgh Magazine).

#1 New York Times bestselling author Lee Child has called CJ's work "Everything a great thriller should be--action packed, authentic, and intense."

"Blood stained" is the eagerly awaited sequel to "Snake Skin" featuring Special Agent Lucy Guardino.

Following the events depicted in the opening novel, agent Guardino is forced to take a more traditional supervisory role, assigning most of the field work to her subordinates. Being the dogged, determined agent that she is, this is always going to be a real challenge.

When she receives a potentially threatening letter, casting doubt over a case that she investigated 4 years earlier, Lucy simply has to personally look into the matter. Lucy suspects that she may know who has sent the letter and together with new member of the team - Postal services agent Jenna Galloway she heads back to New Hope to re-examine the old case.

The pace is electrifying, as Lucy is forced to delve back into her past, at the case that marked the start of her meteoric rise through the ranks of the FBI. The reader is taken on an intense, emotional roller coaster of a ride as we are offered a tantalising glimpse at what makes our intrepid heroine tick.

You'll experience the whole gamut of human emotion throughout the book. At times you'll be biting your nails at the edge of your seat. At others you'll want to cry or laugh or simply breathe a sigh of relief. One thing that is certain is that you won't want to put the book down until the very end.

This really is an exceptional novel, delivering so much more than just an intriguing crime thriller. There is a wonderful depth to the characters that draws you in and leaves you feeling that you have actually lived and experienced the story rather than simply read it.

The opening book in the series "Snake Skin" was outstanding and fully deserved the 5 star rating that I gave it, but with this second volume the author, C.J. Lyons has really raised the bar and left us salivating, desperate for the next instalment.

This is certainly the best crime thriller of the year and arguably the millennium - well at least until the next Lucy Guardino novel.

Let's just hope and pray that we don't have to wait too long.

    Great book!

This was such a good book. I had to force myself to put it down so I could do other things. This book captivated me from beginning to end; the story kept you wanting to read more and once I reached the end, I am now looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

One thing that really struck me as unique among e-books is that this book contained no mistakes. What a treat it is to read a correctly formatted book with no spelling/grammatical errors. For me, that made this book a real treasure.

    Another great read

This is a great second book with Lucy Guidino as the heroin. Ms. Lyons keeps the reader intrigued as you can't wait to find out how Lucy will be able to solve the case before more people are hurt. Ms. Lyons has a great way of writing characters that you can't help but relate to. I can't wait to read more adventures of Lucy.

    Must re!

I'm excellent writing style. Edge of Your seat, stay up all night plot. Can a child overcame the Evil he has been raised to consider normal? Or will he backslide to win his father s approval?
Warning. Don't think you can put this book down before you reach the end.

    Not Her Best Work

Unlike her first book, this continuation of the Lucy Guardino FBI series is clearly of the Young Adult genre. The story begins slowly, then picks up the pace about half-way through. Unfortunately, the action sequences are improbable and simplistic. The story ends abruptly with dangling loose ends. Not the author's best work, IMO.
