Bloodshot Volume 4: HARD Corps. This story arc brings back on of my favorite groups of people from the original Valiant Universt, HARD Corp. And with everything, while the basis of the character is similar, the execution in the new VU is somewhat different. In Bloodshot, HARD Corp are being used by PRS, at first to rescue Bloodshot from Harada, and then they form an uneasy alliance to work with PRS. That was one of the big problems I had with the story line at this point – I couldn’t see Bloodshot willingly siding with PRS and HARD Corp. The overall story lines seemed to get a little less coherent, (such as going BACK to Harada to retrive nanites from Bloodshots blood). In addition, the characters from HARD Corp seemed very flat and one dimensional – they tried to make them different, but they seemed very stereotypical, which is something I felt the HARD Corp characters from VH1 were not. One nice feature of this book is the inclusion of Bloodshot 0. You get to see a little of the back story about Bloodshot, although it also seemed a little disjointed. All in all, I was disappointed by this story arc, despite that fact I was very excited about the inclusion of HARD Corp. Perhaps I was hoping for too much, but the art seemed to be a little less than the previous issues, the story line was not as strong, and the arc itself didn’t deliver the same punch. I would rate it as two stars, but I still enjoyed it a little bit, so three stars it is.
