Although this is the third book in the series, it's as exciting and gripping as the first. Olive has decided to stay on Earth and put all the pain of Faythander behind her as best as she can. But her magic is getting more and more unpredictable, and she start to hallucinate several of her Wult friends in the crowds around her. When a ritual murder happens in her store and black magic pores from the crime scene, her hopes of living a somewhat normal life are squished again. This book takes off after the emotional ending of book two, with a heart-broken Olive trying to get her life back in grip. This is not a book that can be read as a stand-alone, since her emotional scars and how she's dealing with them from the last adventure are what ground this story right away. Olive's pain is tangible, and she's coping like a champ. When the world crashes down around her, it's hard not to feel right along with her. But her fighting spirit and determination to still concentrate on what needs to be done make her easy to cheer for. The plot is well woven, and although Olive is forced to save the world again, it isn't regurgitated. There surprises are unexpected and fall just at the right times to keep the flow going. But then, there aren't many slow moments anyway. The monster is creepy, the danger clear and the scenes eerie. When it comes to the fights, Olive and her companions may or may not win-which keeps the tension and uncertainty high until the very end. The romance is wonderfully frustrating, and it's hard to decide if Olive would be better off with or without her hero. But the actions from both parties are understandable and never forced. Summed up, this is a fast-paced read for strong heroine fans who love magic and fantasy worlds along with a romance, which has to be fought for. And I can't wait to dive into the next book. I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to leave my thoughts.

After finishing Spellweaver with a big old "WHAT HAPPENS NEXT FOR THEM?" question burning in my mind. You can bet that I was anxious to get started on Bloodthorn. Just as with the first two in the series, Bloodthorn opens with action and does not stop. Well-written, the mystery and suspense pours from page after page, leaving you turning them as fast as you can read them. The plot twists and turns take you by surprise, all in a good way that just makes you want it to go on forever. While there is a side to Kull that makes you want to drop kick him throughout the first part of the novel (you understand why he's acting like he does, but still you want to shake your fists in the air at him . . . admittedly, I might have actually done it.), Olive SHINES from beginning to end. And speaking of the end, Kull redeems himself. From the first page to the last page, this novel didn't disappoint! Well, except for when it ended and I was done with the book. Can I just say I can't wait for the next one? And I'm hoping for several more! This series is a must read!

Bloodthorn, Book 3 of the Olive Kennedy Fairy World MD, by Tamara Grantham is a wonderful conclusion to this outstanding series. Olive has been home for about 10 months since her last adventures in Faythander, is just as broke as always, and has chosen to rent a booth at the Houston Ren Faire and live on-site in a camper. Then something strange happens. A large yellow tent appears in the empty field behind her rented camper. Inside she finds Fairy royalty and their Wult guards, including a certain King Olive hasn't seen since she left Faythander. More danger and mayhem ensues as Olive tracks down the Bloodthorn, a being of unsurpassed evil.
