More About This Book

Overview

This book is a true story of a ghastly murder in the nation's oldest city in January of 1974. The victim was a former New York City model who in earlier years has moved in the highest social circles, which included the Kennedy family of Massachusetts. The murder investigation and subsequent trial involved many people from the highest echelons of St. Augestine and St. Johns County.

The characters in Bloody Sunsetare revealed exactly as they were and have not been embellished in any way. The victims were eccentrics in an eccentric city and readers will find them interesting, if not intriguing.

The murder of Athalia Lindsley has become a legend in St. Augestine. For months after the slaughter tour operators would direct sightseers to the crime scene. The house where the killing occurred is pictured in a book featuring St. Augestine's historic houses. This book explains the events that made the structure a "Historic House".

    Tragic, True Story

I just returned from St. Augustine and found this book in the local Barnes & Noble there and read it in about a day and a half. This is such an unbelievably sad, horrible story. When I was reading it I was thinking that Mark Fuhrman should investigate this case just like he did with the Martha Moxley/Michael Skakel (Kennedy cousin) case in Connecticut and maybe he could bring it to a conclusion in the same fashion. I am convinced that the person who was arrested for this did indeed commit this horrible act (there was just far too much evidence against him to believe that he was innocent). This is a book that I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys murder mysteries (real-life or otherwise).

One Case that Should be Re-Opened!

This is one case that should be re-opended. I am not one that reads that often, however this book kept me going. I am a native to Jacksonville and have spent a lot of time in St Augustine. The details that have been given put you right at the spot when it happened. The only thing that disappointed me when reading was that fact the other murders where never looked at. I believe the 2nd murder was conected to the first, and if they would have looked at it a little harder they would have found that. This is a must read!

Lived there. Met Mr. Lindsley and rented an apartment from him during Korean War. Nice person. The presentation was as though I were there. I could picture all the streets and houses before St. George street was made into a tourist attracti
